Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix 2012 - PhotoHunt

PhotoHunt theme : Escape/Automobile

There is no escape for me this time as a complimentary Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix 2012 ticket was delivered to me yesterday.

Singapore Formula One night race 2012 kicks off from September 21–23. Held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit (approximately the size of 73 football fields), Singapore's largest outdoor festival and Asia's most talked-about extravaganza is an electrifying combination of thrilling race action and world-class entertainment.

Singapore F1 Marina Bay Street Circuit

Celebrating the fifth year of Singapore F1, Singapore has received international attention for its stunning skyline and unique carnival-like atmosphere by hosting the first night race in the world.

A stage at the Padang will host the world's finest entertainers. Chinese megastar Jay Chou is the main attraction tonight (21 Sept). On Saturday (22 Sept), chart-topping duo Bananarama and three-time Grammy Award winning pop sensation Maroon 5 will rock the crowds.

English rock legend Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and global pop diva Katy Perry will perform after the race champion is crowned on Sunday (23 Sept).

The Singapore Grand Prix is a favourite for its "magical setting" and unusual track.

I will be going on Sunday night when the Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix 2012 roars into action at 8pm (which is eight hours ahead of GMT). Sunday’s race will run over 61 laps of the 5.073-kilometre (3.152 mile) circuit, or 309.316 kilometres (192.202 miles).

For the party goers, it's going to be a fun-filled weekend with so many international guests joining us.

Make it happen. Just do it, don't wait.

I am not particularly interested in this sports but I enjoy the thrills and carnival atmosphere of the event. Lots of photo opportunities at this exciting event.

Rare chance to catch the gorgeous F1 racers and the international celebrities.

The crowds are no fun though. :(

  5. ewok,
Just happy to see the celebrities and VIPs in person. Not able to get too close due to the crowds.

Right, glad that I escaped having to pay for my ticket which is too expensive for common folks like myself. :)

  11. Why would you want to escape such a fun night, other than the crowds and noise (we don't like either of those). p.s. the hamster escape ended well...they're always protected from pouncing kitty.

  12. Great brilliant idea to hold F1 at night due to the overseas time difference and also cooler weather. Missed F1 races as there is no telecast over our local TV channels not even delayed telecast. Kinda sad & disappointed to know Petronas is in the race plus having a Sepang circuit but no TV coverage. tQ for the pixz . Whoa Korea is joining F1 now.

  14. The Indulged Furries,
Hubby's practice is located right in the middle of the race circuit, so the roads are closed. Our clients don't come and the businesses in our building are closed for several days, so we have a brief escape.

Glad the hamsters are safe! :)

  15. Bananaz,
The weather is cooler at night. It's better for the overseas visitors or else they would be 'baked' under scorching sun. lol

You should try going to a F1 race once in your lifetime. It is quite different watching it on TV at home and being there in person.

I think as the race becomes popular in Asia, we could see more Asian teams participating.

  17. Mr. G. will be with you only here it will be 2 pm ! That's the only sport where he is glued "on" the screen and nobody must disturb him ! I disappear because he squats the living room, sometimes with friends !
