Singapore Grand Prix F1 After-party @ Podium Loung F1新加坡大奖赛赛后派对

Since Singapore’s inaugural Formula One motor race 2008, called the Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix, I have been attending almost all the F1 races annually. It was the first night-time event in F1 history.

I am not sure if there will be a Singapore Grand Prix F1 race in 2017 as race organisers have changed and whether they will be able to extend the contract. Anyway, I am happy that I have attended the first and maybe, last Singapore Grand Prix. haha.....

I attended the opening day of Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix F1. Glad to see many overseas friends flying in for the event and also many familiar faces at the race. Spent time catching up with friends instead of watching the first practice. haha.....

After the race, it was time to party. My hubby came to meet me after work and we proceeded to the Singapore Grand Prix F1 after-party at The Podium Lounge, The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia.

It was still early for party-goers at 11 pm, so we sipped champagne and watched some acrobatic dance performances and danced to the music.

Watched a fashion show.

There was an auction of authenticated Formula 1 memorabilia for a good cause. A signed Joseph Schooling swim cap was part of the memorabilia put up for auction.

At 1 am, award-winning British Pop Goddess Sophie Ellis-Bextor wowed the audience with her performance. The dance floor was jam-packed with people wanting to get closer to her and danced to her songs.

I was squashed, blocked and pushed to the back although I had occupied a good spot earlier. My arms weren't long enough, compared to my Western friends in capturing good shots of Sophie.

But my friends and I had a great time dancing ourselves silly. It has been a long, long time since I took to the dance floor.... makes me feel young again. haha....

After Sophie's performance, it was more partying. More people turned up ..... a bevy of dancers entertained and encouraged the audience to participate in their dancing. It was fun and everyone was enjoying themselves very much.

EastCoastLife's Fun Night @ F1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix 2012 - RT

I arrived at F1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix 2012 around 5 in the evening. The Marina Bay circuit park were teeming with people.

I met up with my friends and we had a short walkabout before heading to our seats. There were loads of fun activities in a carnival setting. We posed for photos, bringing back lots of memories from Singapore Grand Prix. We were so pleased with the gorgeous view of the marina from our Bay Grandstand that we took more photos. :D

We were excited at the race drivers' track parade at 6.30 pm. Many spectators surged forward to take photos of the convoy of antique cars parading the popular F1 racers.

At 8pm, the race was flagged off. I quickly put on my ear plugs. The noise from the race cars was deafening.

Everyone was in high spirits, screaming and waving frantically whenever the cars zoomed by. Many whipped out their camera phones to record the races while seasoned F1 fans brought along their sophisticated DSLRs to shoot photos of their favourite team.

This was the best I could take with my digital camera. The cars were zooming pass like bullets. I could not see my favourite drivers. :( Luckily I could watch most of the circuit action clearly as there were huges screens everywhere.

As there were restrictions on standing up to take photos and that we have to be seated at all times, we decided to catch a closer look of the race, so we made our way down to the circuit park.

Gosh, the smell of burning rubber was extremely strong and the noise was even worse. Fans were trying all ways to get closer to the circuit, just to catch a glimpse of their favourite drivers.

We walked towards the Padang to purchase some refreshments. We were thrilled that there were seats and large screens available so we would not miss any part of the race.

How cool to have dinner under the stars and watch the F1 race! The illuminated office buildings in the background made an awesome backdrop. Going to Singapore F1 race can be fun and economical.

After dinner, we headed to the concert park to watch global superstar Katy Perry. The huge field was packed with enthusiastic fans.

It's amazing to see our landmarks lit up impressively, our Supreme Court and old Parliament House were shining brightly in the background. Such a beauitiful sight.

Scattered throughout the Circuit Park were some spectacular works of arts. I particularly like this illuminated diorama of the solar system in front of our Civilian War Memorial.

Bringing more cheer and fun to the Night Race were overseas visitors who clearly know how to party. Several of them took pains to dress for the occasion.

At the end of the race, there was a spectacular firework display. It's such an awesome feeling having the firework bursting right above me.

With more than 85,000 tickets sold this year, our Singapore Grand Prix is gaining much popularity with F1 fans. Even non-F1 fans are eager to check it out. Our beautiful city views, good security and well-organised events are reasons why they come. Here's to another 5 years! Do visit Singapore F1!

Congratulations to Sebastian Vettel - Red Bull for winning the F1 Singapore Grand Prix 2012!

Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix 2012 - PhotoHunt

PhotoHunt theme : Escape/Automobile

There is no escape for me this time as a complimentary Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix 2012 ticket was delivered to me yesterday.

Singapore Formula One night race 2012 kicks off from September 21–23. Held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit (approximately the size of 73 football fields), Singapore's largest outdoor festival and Asia's most talked-about extravaganza is an electrifying combination of thrilling race action and world-class entertainment.

Singapore F1 Marina Bay Street Circuit

Celebrating the fifth year of Singapore F1, Singapore has received international attention for its stunning skyline and unique carnival-like atmosphere by hosting the first night race in the world.

A stage at the Padang will host the world's finest entertainers. Chinese megastar Jay Chou is the main attraction tonight (21 Sept). On Saturday (22 Sept), chart-topping duo Bananarama and three-time Grammy Award winning pop sensation Maroon 5 will rock the crowds.

English rock legend Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and global pop diva Katy Perry will perform after the race champion is crowned on Sunday (23 Sept).

The Singapore Grand Prix is a favourite for its "magical setting" and unusual track.

I will be going on Sunday night when the Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix 2012 roars into action at 8pm (which is eight hours ahead of GMT). Sunday’s race will run over 61 laps of the 5.073-kilometre (3.152 mile) circuit, or 309.316 kilometres (192.202 miles).

For the party goers, it's going to be a fun-filled weekend with so many international guests joining us.

Alonso wins Singapore F1 Night Race! - WS #43

Fernando Alonso (Renault) makes history with his win at the world's first night race!

Singapore Formula One’s first night race was filled with thrills and spills! 3 crashes and the safety car appeared on the race track twice!

Fernando Alonso claimed victory in a miraculous win! Nico Rosberg (Williams-Toyota) was second and Lewis Hamilton (McLaren-Mercedes) took 3rd place!

Alonso and Hamilton celebrating their wins with champagne!

Massa drove off with the fuel hose still attached....

A mechanic of Ferrari was thrown off when Felipe Massa (Ferrari) drove off with the fuel hose still attached to his car! It caused Massa to lose his lead from pole position to last place. It was nightmare after nightmare when he was given a drive-through penalty for another unsafe exit in front Adrian Sutil (Force India).*sob sob*

First race car crash (Nelsinho Piquet, Renault)

2nd accident (Adrian Sutil, Force India)

Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) had to drop out too at his 58th lap

I have this report up fast before I rush off to a celebration party. The night race was packed with plenty of excitement, it was a great success. Hurrah for Singapore! We show the world that not only can we think big, we can achieve it too!!
