A Night in Sanya 三亚一夜

seafood
fresh ingredients served at a dinner in a private club

After checking into our hotel, we went for a hotpot dinner at a private dining club with Sanya officials. Beautifully presented, the ingredients served were fresh and of top quality. It could easily cost thousands of renminbi for this meal   -_-

There were specially prepared sauces and dips for the hotpot. I noticed some of them did not take these dips. They probably preferred to taste the fresh seafood without the sauces.

After a 3 hour dinner, we were brought to Sanya River for a tour. Strolling along the river, there were crowds of people singing, dancing and performing in open air karaoke.

A Sanya official told us that these people are not locals but Chinese from the North who have come to Sanya for the warm sun and sandy beach. Many of them bought holiday homes in Sanya and usually fly here to avoid the cold in their provinces.

Officially, Sanya has only slightly more than half a million local residents. The rest are not locals.

After enjoying the cool weather in Qionghai, the humidity in Sanya was unbearable even though I come from a tropical island. I couldn't wait to get back to the hotel and soak in the tub. :D
