Cooking Taiwanese Street Snacks with Chef Eric Low - WW

I miss Taiwan. It's been a while since I last visited it and I am craving for a slice of authentic Taiwanese street fare. And how fortunate that I have my favourite sifu, Chef Eric to teach me how to cook Taiwanese street snacks. Hurrah!

The class was held at Mountbatten Community Centre. Chef Eric had his colleague Peggy to assist him. There were 13 participants.

Soon the whole kitchen was filled with the aroma of food. Chef Eric made cooking such a breeze. Within an hour, the 3 dishes were done. After taking photos of each dish, every one was given a portion to taste. :)

Chef Eric shared many cooking tips with us. He recommended several brands of ingredients and where to get them. The sauces he uses are indeed more fragrant and make the dishes taste better.

What we learnt :

 1) XXL Extra Large Crispy Chicken Cutlets

2) Braised Pork Mince on Rice

3) The Taiwanese Prata

Eating these yummy snacks seemed to transport me to the night markets of Taiwan's bustling cities. Looks like I have to plan a trip to Taiwan soon for some adventure. :)

When hubby came to fetch me, he was treated to the food as well. Thanks to Chef Eric. :)

Come 15 October 2011, Chef Eric brings a collection of his personal favourite recipes garnered from past experiences and family heritage to Katong Community Centre.

He will be teaching 3 dishes :

1) Mum’s Curry Chicken Recipe 老妈咖哩鸡

2) Tauhu Telor with Home Made Kicap Manis 印尼豆腐蛋饼

3) Punggol Style Seafood Mee Goreng 榜鹅马来海鲜炒面

  5. Indrani,
I love Taiwanese street snacks but it's hard to find the authentic food fare here in Singapore. Knowing how to cook some dishes could ease my craving for the moment. :)
