Give me Good Fortune! - WW
One of the highlights at River HongBao 2009 is the God of Fortune that sprinkles golden confetti and single digits hourly all through the 9 days this event is held.
When it's time for God of Fortune to distribute his good fortune, many visitors came prepared. Umbrellas, nets, newpapers, caps, plastic bags were brought out! They hope to catch 4 lucky digits to strike it rich.
Times are bad, some hope the God of Fortune would smile on him/ her and send them good fortune.

ReplyDeleteIt's an annual event. :)
Hi ECL,
ReplyDeletewow not only did you have fun you got the lucky numbers hehehe Looks like your year is starting out pretty well and am happy for you. :) anyways, even though I have become a very busy bee lately and I just wanted you to know that you are remembered and I try to make sure I come by as often as I can. At the same time I do hope your week is starting out well. Hope to get time to sit down and actually talk soon. Till then warm hugs. xoxo
Empty Streets,
ReplyDeleteshhhhh..... not suppose to let others know I have 4 digits!
Yah, you have been very very busy. I don't see you that often.
I'll be hearing from you soon. :)
Looks like a lot of fun for everyone!
ReplyDeleteA very happy and good fortune New Year to you.
How much did you get? Looks so much fun. Happy Chinese New Year!
ReplyDeleteIf I were there, I would bring a golf umbrella hehehe. Happy Chinese New Year and Happy WW!
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun - collecting lucky digits ! What an original idea to entertain the visitors who made the effort to go out there.
ReplyDeleteBtw, do u go to Chinatown ? I just realised that some Sg'reans dont venture far to other parts of Sg. I for one kept to the south all my life n only learned of new places (esp the malls) thru friends n family after I left Sg.
Thank you Carletta! :)
ReplyDeletemodern mom,
ReplyDeleteHow much what? hehehe.... digits? 4.
I brought my nieces and nephews on New Year's Eve and they helped me collect 2. Then I got another 2 from my foreign friends last night. :)
liza,
ReplyDeletegolf umbrella!? Yes! Next year I'll bring one. haha....
Happy Chinese New Year, Dutchie!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a yearly affair for some of these visitors, collecting lucky numbers at River HongBao. :D
I go to Chinatown too. Just to collect CNY goodies that I reserved. It's too crowded to watch the Countdown or shop.
There are many places to visit in Singapore besides the malls. You can click on my 'Cool To Do in Singapore' tab.
Happy New Year ECL. It looks like the RIver HongBao is a fun place to be!
ReplyDeletePlease take us with you next time.. ha ha. I'll carry the umbrella.
ReplyDeleteGive me fortune too!!! However the God of Fortune looks like kind of a scary guy! Guess thats why we don't all get good fortune! And I thought luck was a lady :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderfully festive shots.
ReplyDeleteHappy Lunar New Year! Good fortune and good health to you and your loved ones!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is because I have seen how social gambling like buying Toto can eventually lead one to miscalculate the chances of winning through gambling, I would prefer to earn wealth through my own efforts and skills.
ReplyDeleteBut unlike a God of Fortune statue that can easily be made available to give 4-digits when one does not know what numbers to buy, I have to be so open to look out for people around me who can lend me guidance and mentorship when I need directions in my life.
Oh well, I suppose people do engage in some form of magical thinking at some point in the lives.
So creative of her to use the umbrella to collect the numbers!
ReplyDeleteHappy Niu Year to U and ur family! :)
Give me good fortune, too! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great 2009, ECL!
