Congratulations!!
New record!! 81 hours 32 minutes!!
George Lee, the longest-standing contestant in the Subaru Challenge 2008, wins home the grand prize of a brand new Subaru Impreza WRX 2.5L Manual worth $80,000!! George, aged 29, is an army captain and triathlete. His 3rd try, he beat 399 contestants to win the car.
The first runner up was Ms Mary Tan (SMRT senior exec and mother of 2) aged 35. She won S$2,000 SPC vouchers for fuel and service station purchases. This is her second attempt.
The sweet-looking Mary caught my attention when I saw her chatting with her sons on Day 2. I didn't expect her to hold on for long but she proves otherwise. She looks frail but she has formidable willpower. Mummy power!!
A close call. By nighttime on Tuesday, only Mary and George remained. Mary lost her concentration and flexed her fingers, causing her to 'hand' the grand prize to George. Winner was announced before midnight.
All the regional contestants were out of the challenge by the 74th hour.
I guess the first things these contestants would do are a good wash and a good sleep. :)
Congrats to all the contestants. You are all winners!
Wordless Wednesday
Very cool...Happy WW:)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to George Lee. He has clocked 81.5 hours creating a new record. I wonder whether George's record will be broken again next year by another contestant.
ReplyDeleteHi lori!
ReplyDeleteHappy WW!
stanley,
ReplyDeleteEvery year, new records are broken. I hope the contestants will place their health as first priority and not attempt to push for a new record. Have fun but don't damage your health for such silly challenges.
Congrats to George Lee!
Congrats to the winner. I'm fairly certain I could NEVER manage to stand around that long! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm amazed by their determination! Congrats to all winners.

ReplyDeleteI am just now getting mine up. and then of to bed. I have shopping early in the morning.:-)))
Ecl,
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more with you that the contestants should look after their health and not test their physical prowess to the limlt.
WOw, I would not have lasted 81 minutes! That is determination!
ReplyDeleteHi cecily r,
ReplyDeleteMost people can never stand for that long with one hand glued to a car! :)
Doreen,
ReplyDeleteAmazing!! These people never know their limits until they do it. They can survive any war now. :)
architect,
ReplyDeleteA brand new car. The winner deserves it. :)
shinade,
ReplyDeleteYes, the challenge is over. I'm beginning to miss the contestants. hehe....
stanley,
ReplyDeleteThanks. I hope the contestants for next year's challenge will remember that.
Their health first, don't strive for a record. They are already winners by qualifying in this challenge.

It is a tough challenge.

ReplyDeleteecl,
ReplyDeleteI already started training using my dad's car lah. hahahaha!
I thought the lady will win haha, but in the end, it is the man.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, really really not bad for the woman, though she is sad, at least Singapore will know her superb endurance level now.
Let us give a round of applause to this lady warrior for she is really 'enduring' enough!
Wow. What a contest. I don't think I could leave my hand on a car for that long. He doesn't even look tired. Happy WW! Mine is up.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I could handle three days of that. WOW way to go winners!
ReplyDeleteSeems like this would be easy doesn't it? But I can scarcely imagine standing in one place for 3 days... no matter what the prize was!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the winners and all contestants for going through this! I don't think I have the determination and willpower to sustain for this kind of challenge! So really must salute them all!
ReplyDeleteyey! finally a winner!!!! congratulations to him. it really takes one healthy person to endure it. it's good to know that the runner up also receives something for her efforts.

ReplyDeleteHello, Have a nice day!!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine myself standing 24hrs (even with small breaks in between) at one go let along over 80 hours at the mercy of the weather!
ReplyDeleteThen again, I've got this lingering suspicion that you (ECL) can outdo George anytime. Come on, prove it to us next year. I'll be cheering you on from halfway round the globe. :)
3 attempts! OK. He deserves the car. I don't think I can last for half a day.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to George Lee! I could just imagine all the sacrifices he went through.
ReplyDeleteBTW, thanks for your comment on my blog regarding the teacher incident in school. Everything is OK now.
