EastCoastLife at World's First Night Race - PH

PhotoHunt Theme : View

Spectacular view of the action at Turn 23

The Ministry of Trade and Industry hosted VIPs, including Ministers and MPs, to the 2008 Formula One SingTel Singapore Grand Prix in the Temasek Suite at the Paddock Club™.The Temasek Suite offers views of the pit straight and Turns 23. There was fine dining and great wines.

My ticket to a historical moment in Singapore...

EastCoastLife was a part of history and witnessed first-hand Formula 1™ cars racing at night for the first time. From my dining table, I enjoyed a spectacular view of the action as the cars reach speeds up to 300 km/h right in front of my eyes! I also stepped out to the private balcony to enjoy the electric atmosphere and had a whiff of the burning tires! :)

EastCoastLife with power ladies Minister Lim Hwee Hua and MP Cynthia Phua

From my prime location offering unrivalled views, I watched the race unfold with all the drama that Formula 1™ delivers. Many F1 drivers have never raced in the night, so there were a few accidents.

All the guests took a walk down the Pit Lane after the first Practice Session, taking photos of the garages and the race car teams at work.

Everyone rushed to the window whenever a race car crashed...

Singapore Grand Prix is the world's first Formula 1™ race to be held at night and the first street race in Asia. 10 teams zoomed around the 5.067 km long street circuit which offers multiple overtaking opportunities as well as fast and challenging turns.

I smelled burning tires (and sweaty men!) from the balcony!

Singapore is aiming to be the 'Monaco of Asia', this iconic event will put it in the global spotlight. It hopes to entice the super-wealthy who come to the race to consider setting up homes here.

Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan and lovely NMP Eunice Olsen

Host and several VIPs toasting to the success of Singapore Grand Prix!

It costs a person several thousand dollars to watch this night race in Temasek Suite at the Paddock Club. But not any one with money could get a ticket to my event. What a memorable and awesome experience for me!

It's an interesting circuit for the F1 drivers. I saw in the news that Lewis Hamilton is eating more carrots to better improvised his eyesight! :D

  19. So far this one is unique. Haven't seen the race track anywhere else yet. Interesting Post. I can see how everyone would want to rush to the windows to see a car crash.

  20. I love Kimi the Ice man! :D

We were excited about that race but of course its not inexpensive to just go there to watch.

    You are so fortunate :)

  21. Wow! I'm a fan of F1. So envy you get to attend the race and sit at the best place too. Just wondering if the track is good for overtaking cos I won't like it to be like the one in Monaco where overtaking is difficult. Well, hope Ferrari wins! : )

    ReplyDelete
  22. bintang4,
KIMI RAIKKONEN's paddock attracted lots of attention! :)

    And Lewis Hamilton's too. :)

  23. Kok,
It's not only unfamiliar ground for the F1 drivers, it's the first night race they have ever competed. The circuit is challenging.

I hope things go well, there were several mishaps at the practice sessions.

  24. U and your awesome kangtao again! :P

    Was Eunice Olsen there? 8)

  25. ancient one,
This is a much anticipated F1 Night Race in Singapore after so many years of lobbying for it. It attracted lots of publicity and it is going to be in the news for days.

Singaporeans are getting excited, I'm not into car racing but this makes my blood rush! hehe...

The cars were speeding past like a flash of lightning. We couldn't even see the colour of the car! Not trying to be mean but, but whenever a race car crashed, that was the only clear view of the car and driver! :P

    ReplyDelete
  26. julie,
    I'm so lucky! :D

I don't know many of the race car drivers but Kimi, Lewis, Alfonso were the names that kept being mentioned.

    ReplyDelete
  27. foongpc,
Yep, we got the best seats in the whole F1 gallery! The best need to have the best. :P

There were several spectacular turns and a few overtaking tracks. The circuit is quite challenging, there were quite a few narrow escapes. A pretty exciting session last night. Looking forward to Sunday's race.

  34. Farah,
I don't really watch F1 races but since this is the first time Singapore is holding the World's Night Race, I have to give my support and promote it as best as I could. :)

Weird or double standard ah? Whenever my hubby watches soccer or any sports programme, I would nag. But if my son watches them, I would praise him for being so sporty. yikes. haha...

  60. I was in SG till yesterday, but I left as a disappointed man... coz I didn't get CLOSE enough to feel the Singapore F1 :(

    ReplyDelete
  61. Vancouver used to be on the NASCAR Formula 1 race car circuit but the route was actually through city streets -- it became too expensive to shut down the centre of the city for a week so no more formula 1 here. All I remember is how noisy those cars are.

    ReplyDelete
  62. My husband and I were up late watching the historical F1 race held in Singapore. You're so lucky to witness it.
