PhotoHunt - Shoes

In March 2006, I was diagnosed to have bunions on both my feet. I was told it's hereditary. I would have to undergo surgery to rectify it and it's not guaranteed it won't occur again.

Prior to consulting an orthopaedic & a podiatrist at SGH, I had sharp pains in my right feet & left knee. It was almost impossible to walk.

The orthopaedic recommended me to see a podiatrist. The podiatrist recommended wearing these shoes, MBT. After 5 months of wearing these shoes, it has helped tremendously.

I wore it on my China trips and I could even climb mountains then, awesome right? Now I can go shopping for hours. hehe.....

Chris has a hunched back, but when he wore the shoes, it corrects his posture.

Good things are not cheap. A pair costs around S$400. I bought 2 pairs, Chris bought a pair - it was our craziest spurgle - more than S$1000 for 3 pairs of shoes! My Dad wouldn't talk to me if he knew! :P

  3. I was impressed by your ability to walk Geylang and Katong area with me earlier the month. I noticed you were wearing the MBT shoes. :)

I am glad that it has helped you. For $400 a pair, I think it is cost-effective if it helps you walk with greater comfort, and it is a cheaper and safer alternative to surgery.

This is occupation hazard *winks*: maybe there could be a foundation to help very low-income people buy a pair of MBT shoes via instalments? Maybe it would give them a cheaper and safer alternative than to rely on Medifund or Medisave to pay for a surgery to rectify a bunion problem.

  4. That's an expensive pair of shoes but I'm sure it's worth it since it makes walking for you more comfortable and most of all painless.

I'll come back to sign your Mr. Linky when mine is up. I'll post mine later.

  18. oceanskies,
I have been wearing those shoes for 2 years now and it has helped me to travel far and wide. :)

It is expensive and I don't know if the shop has an instalment scheme for the purchase of the shoes. I'll ask them when I visit them.

It is very comfortable. Without these shoes, I cannot walk far. :(

  19. rachel,
Yes, it's expensive but worth it. I have used it for 2 years, so it cost me S$200 for each year. :)

Yes, bunions are very painful. And many young ladies who wear high heels are eventually going to get them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Doreen,

I can wear heels but only for dinner parties and if I'm chauffeured. :) Plus cannot walk long distances.... just sit there and smile. hehehe....

To me, it's worth every cent I paid. :)

I'm thankful I don't have to go for an operation and yet be able to travel far. :)

  26. Wow, that is a lot to spend on shoes. Some celebrities probably spend that on one pair of shoes a week. *LOL*

    Great post. Happy Hunting!

  27. If you can walk right and have issues corrected it's worth the price. Enjoy your shoes...

  28. Good choice Eastcoastlife, I can sense the satisfaction! Wow! I myself think and feel, a good pair of shoes is closest to bare feet. The exceptions are special functions, where I love the shinny ones. As I move into the crowd, people get confused the shinningnizationness, as an aura! LOL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. That's great that the special shoes have helped. I would think that they are worth the cost if they prevent you from needing surgery.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @_@ Expensive!!

    p/s: GSS sales!! *wweeeeeee*

  33. crazy working mom,
I have friends who spend over S$1000 on a pair of designer shoes! Just high heels that cannot be used for walking long distances. I don't understand why they would want to spend so much.

  40. Anything to help the feet! And you know what those shoes are cute! And expensive!! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I've heard about these MBT shoes, they are supposed to tone your butt and legs when you use them, right? I've heard mixed reviews so I'm hesitant to plunk down all that money. Another option is FitFlops which supposedly do the same thing but only cost $50. Maybe I'll try those...

    ReplyDelete
  42. I agree, cost is not a factor when it comes to health. And being able to climb mountains with them on Wow!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think if they help you to be more comfortable, then it's money well spent.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Well that was interesting! And yes, it is hereditary, sadly - my mother, now me!
    Have a good weekend. :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. bengbeng,
Young people do have feet problems too, you know. It's not linked to my fall in Penang.

I had these shoes on when I fell in G hotel. It helped to cushion my fall otherwise I would have worse injury.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I never heard of these shoes, but it's great if it helps ! Fortunately I don't have any feet problems (yet) lol !

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh, S$1,000 for 3 pairs of shoes! They are surely costly but the amount spent cannot compare with the comfort you enjoy and or correction of posture.

  72. Very expensive!!!! What's that in the 神奇鞋? The sole, cushioning..or what?
    MBT = Must Buy This?
    LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Wow...I bought a pair of MBT sandals for my stiff and painful ankles two years ago...I could not buy these shoes 'coz I had swollen ankle joints and it helps to correct my then slanting side way right foot. I had this MBT to thank for as I am now walking normally....I had a post on these shoes in my blogpost on shoes...
Your shoes still in good condition...? Mine is getting some peeling skin dropping out...
For the sandals I think I paid around RM 700 plus...but it is really worth it... as it helps in my blood circulation...as I had stiff joints due to my arthritis.
But you got to take very good care of it or else it will not last...cannot steps on wet grass or oily surface..something like that...and I sometimes wear it to those big shopping malls ....walking in these shoes is definitely a breeze...would like to know yrs make from where...Vietnam..?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Its worth the price. No matter how expensive a thing is as long as it does good things its a best buy.
