Ngee Ann Polytechnic Open House

Jaymes went with his school to Ngee Ann Polytechnic's Open House on Thursday, he wanted to go again, so I brought the younger kids with us.

We took a bus to Clementi Interchange & took the free shuttle bus to NP. We were given a bag each containing drinks, notebooks & snacks when we arrived.

There was a free shuttle bus to bring you round the campus. A Student Ambassador was on board to tell you about their campus. Student Ambassadors were everywhere to guide you.

There was free popcorn, candy floss, Iced Milo & canned drinks.

We went to the School of InfoComm & Technology. It started pouring when we got down the bus. A plump Malay girl sheltered us with an umbrella from the bus stand to the school building. She had to take 4 trips & was drenched. I was very touched. We took a tour of their Anime Studio. We had a group picture taken. I was very impressed with the works of the students.

The kids had free McDonald's Apple Pies & stationary.

Next we went to their School of Life Sciences. The students demonstrated some experiments. Interesting. There was a Harry Potter look-alike, albeit an older version. hmmm.....I wonder where they find this ang-mo. The kids were fascinated & enjoyed it. They also learnt new things. The kids tried some hand-made chocolate ice-cream.

The School of Nursing was next. The kids had free waffles with honey. They played a game where they had to visit all the booths & get 8 stamps to exchange for gifts. We get to have our blood pressure taken. Listen to our heart beats & lung. You could learn to administer an injection, to a life-sized model.

The kids were getting hungry. Gosh, it was 4.15pm! We went to Canteen 2 for a very late lunch.
Most of the stalls were sold out except for the Japanese & Yong Tau Foo. The food was cheap & good. Hot drinks cost only 35 cents. Very affordable for the students. There were a few stalls I must try, said a student ambassador. I must come back again to try the other stalls, I was told there are 5 canteens on the campus, the one next to School of InfoComm is very romantic.

After lunch, we went to the School of Film, Media & Advertising. We were brought on a tour of their Radio Console, mini threatre & Filming Studio. It is a rare opportunity as it is not open to all students of NP. Even the FMA students need to have codes to enter the premises.

It was 6pm when we finished. The kids signed up for their online magazine & won T-shirts & watches.

It was a fun & interesting day for the kids. They collected a lot of gifts. Jaymes was very fascinated by the tour today & declared he wants to study at NP. Oh no, there goes my plans for him!
