Winner of Subaru Challenge 2008 - George LeeGeorge Lee, the longest-standing contestant in the Subaru Challenge 2008, wins home the grand prize of a brand new Subaru Impreza WRX 2.5L Manual worth $80,000!! George, aged 29, is an army captain and triathlete. His 3rd try, he beat 399 contestants to win the car.
The first runner up was Ms Mary Tan (SMRT senior exec and mother of 2) aged 35. She won S$2,000 SPC vouchers for fuel and service station purchases. This is her second attempt.
A tired Mary, hanging in there in her wet clothes.... The sweet-looking Mary caught my attention when I saw her chatting with her sons on Day 2. I didn't expect her to hold on for long but she proves otherwise. She looks frail but she has formidable willpower. Mummy power!!
A close call. By nighttime on Tuesday, only Mary and George remained. Mary lost her concentration and flexed her fingers, causing her to 'hand' the grand prize to George. Winner was announced before midnight.
All the regional contestants were out of the challenge by the 74th hour.
I guess the first things these contestants would do are a good wash and a good sleep. :)

Every year, new records are broken. I hope the contestants will place their health as first priority and not attempt to push for a new record. Have fun but don't damage your health for such silly challenges.

OMG what perseverance! I simply cannot imagine myself doing it. I think I will get cramps. Did these people eat, drink and go to the restrooms at all?

I already started training using my dad's car lah. hahahaha!
I thought the lady will win haha, but in the end, it is the man.
Anyway, really really not bad for the woman, though she is sad, at least Singapore will know her superb endurance level now.
Let us give a round of applause to this lady warrior for she is really 'enduring' enough!

Seems like this would be easy doesn't it? But I can scarcely imagine standing in one place for 3 days... no matter what the prize was!

I can't imagine myself standing 24hrs (even with small breaks in between) at one go let along over 80 hours at the mercy of the weather!
Then again, I've got this lingering suspicion that you (ECL) can outdo George anytime. Come on, prove it to us next year. I'll be cheering you on from halfway round the globe. :)
