Earlier this morning, Mr Lee Kuan Yew's casket, draped with the state flag was carried by the 8 casket bearers onto a gun carriage at Sri Temasek.

建国总理李光耀灵柩今早从斯里淡马锡总理官邸移往国会大厦。

The draping of the State Flag over a casket is the highest State honour accorded to a leader. When the Singapore flag covers the casket, it is placed so that the crescent and stars lie over the head and close to the heart. ‪

Thousands of people have joined the queue to pay their last respects to our Founding Father Lee Kuan Yew who is lying in state at Parliament House.

Due to overwhelming queues at the Parliament House where the waiting time is 8 hours to pay our last respect, the Lying In State timing has been extended to 24 hours till Saturday, 28 March 8pm. There is no need to rush down immediately.

今天到国会大夏排队的人龙好长哦,看不到尽头,天气再热也烧不掉人民对李光耀先生的尊敬!

Get Well Soon, Mr Lee Kuan Yew

Statement from the office of our Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong :

Mr Lee Kuan Yew was admitted to Singapore General Hospital yesterday (15 Feb 2013) after experiencing a suspected Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) associated with a prolonged episode of atrial fibrillation (i.e. irregular heartbeat). He has recovered but will remain warded for a few days for the doctors to adjust his medications and for observation.

[A Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) is when blood flow to a part of the brain stops for a brief period of time. A person will have stroke-like symptoms which clear in less than 24 hours.]

Mr Lee Kuan Yew (born 16 September 1923) served as Prime Minister of Singapore from 1959 until he stepped down in 1990. Mr Lee retired from the cabinet in 2011 but remains a Member of Parliament.

Wishing our Founding Father Lee Kuan Yew a speedy recovery. Our prayers are with him.
