PhotoHunt theme : Boogie/ Steps

I was fortunate to get complimentary tickets to watch Chingay Parade Singapore 2014 live at the F1 Pit Building on February 8.

Started in 1973, this annual festival is known for its resplendent floats and multi-cultural local and international performances.

This year a total of 500 performers from six countries (China, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines) participated.

It was a great opportunity to take many photos of the spectacular floats and also the performers dressed in magnificent costumes.

As there were too many photos, I would only share a few for this week's theme.

My first time seeing a mikoshi (Japanese float-like portable shrine). It looked heavy.

Members of the Japanese Association in Singapore presented a performance titled ''Japanese culture: Smile for you''.

There was a breathtaking mass ballet display by young girls from various ballet centres. Wish I had a daughter to send to ballet classes. hehehe.......

It was so enjoyable watching the young performers from the Indian performance contingent boogie enthusiastically to hot Bollywood songs. The crowd around me couldn't help clapping and following their dance steps.

The two hour procession ended with a display of fireworks. Although there was an invitation to boogie through the night with the performers and volunteers, we chose to make our way home in case we missed the last bus. :)
