PhotoHunt theme : Two/ Ripple
My friends and I were getting bored as our car crawled through a heavy traffic jam on the way to Chinatown for our festive shopping. The usual 5-minute drive to the nearest carpark took us 30 minutes.
From the corner of his eye, my husband spotted this cute scooter on his right. A ripple of excitement spread through his lady passengers when he let the two cut into his lane :)
awwww.... so sweet.
Make a wish upon a wishing tree!
As we emerged from the carpark, just outside Chinatown Point, we saw this wishing tree where visitors can hang up their wish card. With every $2 donated for a wish, one can bring a smile onto faces of elderly as all donations collected will go to Chinatown Senior Activity Centre.
Firecrackers were banned in Singapore for many years. So when we heard that Chinatown Light Up 2014 would be launched with a live firing of firecrackers, we brought the young children in our family to watch...... from a safe distance. :)
People had to cover their ears when the firecrackers were lighted. A colourful display of fireworks followed, lighting up the night sky.
Many Singaporeans look forward to galloping to Prosperity in the lunar new year! Huat ah!!
So much fun and that scooter is too cute :) Happy 2014 ECL :)
ReplyDeleteWe are preparing to celebrate Lunar New Year. Lots to do as it is the most important festival for Chinese. :)
DeleteThe scooter is cute ya :)
ReplyDeleteWe should exchange no. ya, can arrange for kopi or dinner ya... Hehe...
So cute that I am thinking of the possibility of buying one. haha....
DeleteYes, we should get together for kopi or dinner since we are living on this same tiny island. :)
Firecrackers are banned here in Msia too but people still play anyway LOL
ReplyDeleteReally? I thought it was allowed. Two years ago I was in JB for CNY celebrations and there was a huge firecrackers event. *confused*
DeleteMaravillosas fotos! Mi deseo ya está pedido! Gracias!
ReplyDeleteGracias!
Deletesounds like fun. I am glad you have much fun there and share it!
ReplyDeleteBy the way - the operation took out a significant tumor which left me with a number of difficulties, but also left me with "the other side of my brain" more active and thus ambidextrous!
Glad that the tumour is removed. I think being ambidextrous is good, you can switch between the hands whenever one is tired from work. :P
DeleteIt is ban but there are always means to get your hands on some.
ReplyDeleteI kind of miss those noisy loud fire crackers here. Seems very quiet with out it.
Ordinary citizens in Singapore are not allowed to set off firecrackers here for safety reasons, we still banned from buying and playing with firecrackers.
Deletethe scooter is very cute.
ReplyDeleteYes, the first time I see one in Singapore :)
DeleteI've been seeing wishing trees lately, I wonder how that started.
ReplyDeleteFRANKLY MY DEAR
No idea, we used to have Wishing Well or Wishing Fountain. :)
Deletelooks like u're all ready for CNY! hmmm...yeah firecrackers are banned in Malaysia but ppl still light them up like crazy every year hahahha....
ReplyDeleteYes, started spring cleaning in December. Last week started shopping and next week will be cooking and baking :)
DeleteWishing to drive the scooter. SO cute.
ReplyDeleteI wish to try it too, maybe as the passenger. :)
DeleteYou sure have lots of themes in this one entry -- amazing, really! :)
ReplyDeleteToo many themes.... confusing? LOL
DeleteInteresting shot of 'ripples' for this week's theme! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
Thank you :)
DeleteI enjoyed reading this story and seeing that cute scooter. happy new year to you!
ReplyDeleteHi ECL, I totally love that couple in the pink scooter. Great capture. I think the wishing tree is wonderful and its cool that the money go to help seniors. Fireworks displays are cool and a nice way to ring in the New Year with a bang. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be riding in a pink sidecar ~ even in traffic.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great ripple!
Great shots for the themes. You asked about the temperatures for the lake to freeze. When I took those shots the lows were around 10 F (-12.2 C) but it has warmed up and the lake has thawed although there is some refreezing.
ReplyDeleteLove your creative take on the ripple theme!
