Private beach in Bali where you can go nude :P

One of my fave holiday destinations is Bali.

One can't help falling in love with its beautiful beaches. The popular ones are packed with holidaymakers. My Balinese student brought us to a secluded beach where only locals frequent. This is one of the rare public beaches in Bali which is unspoilt.

He also brought us to a private beach owned by his friend. I stayed in the shadows of the trees as I was too shy to stroll along the beach where there were several guests suntanning in the nude. :D

Wayang Kulit
wayang kulit (shadow puppets) performance

In the evening, we were treated to a sumptuous roast pig dinner in Ubud as we watched traditional Indonesian performances.

Wayang Kulit or Shadow Puppets is one of the oldest Indonesian entertainments where puppets crafted from buffalo hide are mounted on bamboo sticks and held up behind a piece of white cloth. With an electric bulb or an oil lamp as the light source, shadows are cast on the screen. The plays are usually based on romantic tales.

beautiful Balinese dancer

One ancient dance tradition I love watching is the Balinese dance.  It is a part of the religious and artistic expression among the Balinese people. The Balinese dancers express the story of dance-drama through their whole body; fingers, hands and body gestures to head and eyes movements. Observe the Balinese dancer's eyes, they are so expressive!

  1. Looks like you got to to see the less trodden and thus lovelier parts of Bali -- lucky you! :)

    1. Yes, I didn't want to go to too many popular tourist spots. Fortunately I have a Balinese student who brought me to places where the locals frequent. Saw the most amazing places in Bali. :)
