Guess My Favourite Mug - PhotoHunt

P1320374

These are some of the mugs I received. Guess which is my favourite? :)

PhotoHunt theme : Guess/ Your favourite mug or cup

As a teacher for many years, I am on the receiving end of many lovely and wonderful gifts for various occasions.

I appreciate every gift that my students and their parents gave me because their gifts were expressions of gratitude and that I make a positive difference in their lives.

Now 22 years later, the gifts that I still have and hold dear are piling high in a cupboard. I continue to keep in touch with many students through email and Facebook.

My favourite mug is from a young man from the Philippines. He was my student for 3 years. Getting a gift of appreciation from him was unexpected because he was extremely rebellious and we had so many fights. On the day he left Singapore, he came to see me. Quietly he placed a wrapped gift on my table and clumsily bade his farewell.

Unwrapping the gift, I discovered a letter he wrote thanking me for teaching him and making a difference in his life. I was so touched. The young man is now in Canada working on his PhD. :)

    1. Not necessary to be popular, I am too strict. Only students who are matured and learn the hard way will appreciate me :)

  8. We enjoyed your story of the difficult student, and the happy outcome. The mug seems appropriate with the ice skating and evergreen trees, as he is in Canada.

  12. hi, ECL! what subject did you teach? that must be something not easy to forget - teaching a hard-headed student! my son, who is a high school teacher now, is struggling with brat students who loves to whine all the time! ha ha

i thought it was the mug in the middle that was your favorite! :)

  13. wonder where my comment went...

my son who teaches English for Grade 9 students also struggles with brat students (most of them are children of affluent people and politicians). being straight and true to his profession, he dislikes whiners, and most often asks the students valid reason for all the complaining.

that student of yours learned a valuable thing from you despite your strict approach. kudos to you, ECL! :D

  14. The tree is a pine needle tree. apparently the needles drop and get trapped in the branches, not a bird's nest. But I dun know why we didn't notice it in previous years. They happened only on one side of the tree. I dun know why, may be the wind direction. Actually the shorter tree with the red car is a small tree and the leaves are not needles. Still the same concept.
