Simple American's Singapore Holiday - RT

Our World Tuesday

Blogger friend Simple American and his wife flew in to Singapore early on Sunday morning. We met them at their hotel lobby. Another Singaporean blogger friend PY joined us and we treated them to our traditional breakfast at 73-year-old Chin Mei Chin Confectionery on East Coast Road.

SA enjoyed the traditional breakfast of kaya toast bun, soft-boiled egg and a cup of hot coffee.

He also selected the popular custard puffs, cream horn and custard tarts from the display.

In Katong Antique House

After breakfast, we brought our guests to Katong Antique House. The  room is filled with old Baba Nonya antiques such as jewellery, porcelain wares, embroidered attires, embroidered bead slippers, inlaid mother of pearls furnitures and many other breathtaking antiques.

Every Sunday, the shop will sell an array of Nonya cakes. Go early before the more popular ones are sold out. I like their apom berkuah, kueh sarlat, kueh lapis and popiah.

PY brought SA and his wife on a tour of Merlion Park, Kampong Glam and Little India. I joined them later in the evening with another 5 bloggers at Banana Leaf Apolo Restaurant for a sumptuous curry fish head dinner.

                                                                                              Delicious Curry Fish Head

Curry Fish Head is a hot favourite especially with Chinese Singaporeans. A huge red snapper head was cooked with lady fingers and some tomatoes in a reddish curry containing more than 20 kinds of ingredients. Fortunately it was not too spicy for our guests.

We also ordered their Masala Chicken and yummilicious Butter Chicken. We chose bryani rice which was served on a banana leaf with two vegetables sides. Their lime juice is extremely refreshing and appetizing. After dinner we sent SA and wife back to their hotel.

It was an exhausting day for them after a long flight and a day of sight-seeing. I caught them dozed off a few times during dinner.  :P

    1. As they were staying in a hotel near my residence, I bought them for breakfast on two mornings around the East Coast. They went on an express tour with other bloggers in the day.
