Asia's 1st Life-sized Chocolate Race Car - WW

Ooh lala..... a race car! Did I mention it’s made entirely of chocolate? WOW!!

To celebrate the arrival of Formula 1 in Singapore, the Royal Plaza on Scotts (RP) is displaying Asia’s first-ever life-sized chocolate race car at its lobby from now until Sept 30.

This race car measures 4.7 metres long and 2 metres wide. It uses 90 kg of chocolate and 10 litres of food varnish to give the car its polished look. It took 8 chefs 7 days and 7 nights to make it.

It was launched in support of the Autism Children’s Centre and the Community Chest, Singapore (ComChest). The campaign is called “Ooh lala, Chocolah”.

You can buy a scale model of the large 90-kg car at $28 each at RP’s gourmet restaurant Carousel. $5 of each purchase will be donated to the Autism Children’s Centre.

The wheels are also made of chocolate!!

At the end of the campaign, the entire car will be auctioned off with proceeds going to ComChest.

Charity lucky draw tickets priced at S$5 each, are also on sale at RP. Besides donating, participants stand to win a stay at RP’s Executive Suite, a 16-gigabyte iPod Touch, as well as champagne brunch vouchers from Carousel in the lucky draw.

Weight of chocolate used
White chocolate 31 kg
Milk chocolate 45 kg
Dark chocolate 14 kg

Wheel Specifications
Tires - Dark chocolate blended with edible black powder
Wheel hub - White chocolate blended with edible silver powder

Cost of fabrication $25,000

Chocolate is one of the hardest things to get right. You know, it's got to be the right temperature. If not, it just doesn't shine!
