Kim Choo Rice Dumplings

Chris drove me to Joo Chiat Place to buy Kim Choo's ba chang (rice dumplings with meat fillings). There are several types of meat fillings. There are the popular Nonya, Sambal Chilli, 5-spice Pork and now a XO rice dumpling that is stuffed with dried scallops, salted egg yolk, pork, sambal chilli.....etc. I bought a box of mini Nonya rice dumplings (S$6), another box of Sambal Prawn rice dumplings (S$8),

That's how small a mini rice dumpling is!

and a box of otaks (grilled spicy fish paste, S$5). Diced fish is mixed with spices, scooped into coconut leaves that are secured with toothpicks at both ends & then grilled. Yummy!
The sales assistant recommended their soon kueh (steamed turnip cakes, S$4). I don't like them. The skin was too thick & the turnips were not cooked long enough.
