Kluang Railway Station - WW

A few of my Malaysian friends have been raving about the coffee and kaya toast at Kluang Rail Coffee for years, so I decided to go for it.

We went on the Hari Raya Haji public holiday. Bad timing because they were closed for the holidays. haha....

There were quite a number of people waiting for a train on the platform, so we decided to stay and wait too.

We explored the tiny rail station and posed for some pictures. :)

On the way back to Johor town centre, we stopped at the railway tracks at a village to take some pictures.

There was an elderly guard who opens and closes the gate for vehicles crossing the tracks. He told us the next train would be coming at 6 pm so it was safe to walk on the tracks.

For the next trip to Kluang, we are planning to ride a train here. :)

Kluang Half Day Trip

It was a sudden decision to go on a day trip to Kluang on Hari Raya Haji public holiday. We depended on our GPS which was a disgrace, bringing us through long, winding kampung (village) roads and around palm tree plantations. I think I need to upgrade it.

When we finally arrived at our first destination, Kluang Rail Coffee, it was closed for the holiday. ISH!

It was almost 1 pm. We took some photos at the rail station before driving to the town centre to look for food.

We saw an elderly couple walked towards Star Coffee House and Restaurant (since 1979), so we followed. Was glad that it was air-conditioned when the restaurant manager told us they were fully booked for lunch. sigh.

We crossed a couple of streets and found a food court. We shared a plate of char kway teow (fried noodles, RM4) and a bowl of Sarawak Kolo noodles (RM4.30). A glass of homemade ice lemon tea costs RM1.50. The fried noodles with lots of fresh cockles and fried lard was very good, it had wok hei.

This Central Cafe chicken rice shop was packed with diners. We ordered a plate of kampung chicken rice (breast meat RM3.50). They had bitter gourd soup and homemade luo han guo drink that day, we ordered but they forgot our orders.  :D

We decided to go back early to Singapore with a stopover at Taman Sutera to pick up some Malaysian snacks.
