Senior citizens participating in a fun table game :D
We did not forget the victims of Typhoon Haiyan as international aid is trickling in, providing food, temporary shelter and medical assistance to the survivors. With over 9.5 million people affected, more than 5,000 people dead (with hundreds still missing), an estimated 600,000 displaced, Typhoon Haiyan has been named as one of the strongest storms in history.
As we approach the end of the year, some organisations within my constituency are organising free lunches for senior citizens and orphans from charity homes. Several neighbours and I are having a busy and fun time helping out. :)

Local Singaporean donors and helpers have been coming forth since a collection centre at Cairnhill Community Centre started on 14 Nov 2013 (Thur). They hear about it just through Facebook and word of mouth.
The centre managed to collect and sent 21 TEU ( 20' Equivalent Unit) containers of relief goods comprising bottled water, food, and supplies to the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan todate.

The collection centre is opened to serve the public and survivors of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) by staying open 9am to 9pm daily until December 14, 2013.

On 16 Nov 2013, hawkers at Makansutra Gluttons Bay pledged part of their sales to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Several hawkers from all around the island even came in to contribute and support. Over $12,000 was raised for the Typhoon Haiyan victims in one busy night of gluttony.
Our prayers are with the displaced and affected.
An unusual photo : Man made from recycled mobile phones @Recycling Week.
Public events and private parties often create a huge amount of waste. Recycling is very important for the environment and we need to reduce, reuse and recycle. Let's do our bit to recycle more. Happy Thanksgiving!
Yeah, i go agree that recycling is important! :D
ReplyDeleteDo your bit, ok? :D

ReplyDeleteAre you in the committees of RC?
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of charity things going on here too ! Collecting clothes for the homeless, organize shelters for the night, free restaurants, etc and of course Belgium helped the poor Typhoon victims too.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great cause - and the game is a great way to come together and help out while having fun at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHave a super weekend.
There is little time for games for those who are rebuilding their lives... the support is important.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great effort!
