Really!? Your Favourite Household Appliance - Photo Hunt

P1310639

PhotoHunt theme : What is your favourite household appliance?/ Really

My girlfriends and I had a great time reminiscing the old days when we visited the National Museum early this week. A section of the museum displayed some household appliances from the olden days. We had a good laugh at the items which look weird in this new millennium.

I have not seen any of the retro TVs. I think they are cool. :)

I remember we had a whistling kettle, the light-weight iron and cake mixer then. We also owned a rotary dial phone. We were the first household in our block of apartments to apply for a land line, so neighbours would come knocking on our door, asking to borrow our phone at odd times of the day. That was pretty irritating for us.

My favourite household appliance is an antique sewing machine which once belonged to my Mum. It's really old but it works fine.

I have been busy sewing new curtains for my house and also for my Mum, in preparation for the Chinese New Year. It's really too early to prepare for Chinese New Year but a Filipino friend sent me bales of pretty white lace which I couldn't wait to show off to my visitors. :)

    1. My Mum's old school sewing machine was still good after more than 4 decades. I have an electric motor added to it a couple of years ago and it is giving me problems now. :(

    1. I hope more Singaporeans will visit our museums to see how life was like in the olden days and then learn to appreciate what they are having now. :)
