Footprints : Sunset in Bali - PhotoHunt

PhotoHunt theme : Footprints/ Watch sunsets or sunrises

Guests sitting by the beach .......

Indonesian friends recommended that I visit The Rock Bar in Bali's Jimbaran Bay where one can watch the sun sets while sipping a cocktail, with live musicians playing.

The Rock Bar, Bali

This unique bar is built on natural rocks 14 metres above the Indian Ocean with the Bali waves crashing against them. There are unparalleled 360-degree views across the ocean and back to the beach and cliffs. This innovative open-top bar is Bali's most glamorous sunset and after-dark destination.

Lots of tourists visit this popular bar daily despite its seemingly hefty price tags. One needs to go early to get a choice seat. Even though we arrived early at the bar around 5 pm, there was a queue already.

We had 3 choices of seating : 1) the bar level; 2) the side deck or 3) the beach. We chose the seats by the beach, preferring to leave our footprints in Bali. hehe...

The sky turned so many different shades as the sun sinks behind the horizon. It was breathtaking. The spectacular moments lasted for half an hour before darkness enveloped us. Quickly the staff brought out the lighted candles. It was so romantic.

While the guests marvelled at the gorgeous sunset and enjoyed their drinks, spotted at a far corner of the beach were a local and his son. They were gathering up their simple fishing net and heading home with a small catch. As the father walked ahead with his catch, the skinny boy followed... leaving a trail of footprints on the beach.

  7. The Rock Bar looks wonderful -- and I could see why it attracts so many people. How many days were you in Bali in total, ECL? Is it easy to get around there?

    1. I was in Bali for 5 days. We hired a car and used GPS to bring us round the island. It was fun and easy to drive around since we can read signs in Indonesian language.

Warning : The traffic police stationed at some junctions would find fault with drivers of rental cars and ask for money. They get away with it because most of these drivers are foreigners who don't want more trouble.
