My Pet JJ - PhotoHunt

PhotoHunt Theme : Pet/Upper

cleaned and dried for Chinese New Year

My son's 'pet' - a Teddy bear. hahaha......

We had a live pet once, an extremely adorable and intelligent Shih Tzu puppy named JJ. For a year, he was brutally abused by my foreign students. Whenever I was not looking, one Filipino boy and one Chinese boy would coil his leash round his neck and drag him up two flights of stairs to the upper floor to abuse him.

It was only after I noticed that he was limping that two female students told me the truth. When the vet told me the extent of his injuries, I was furious. My poor puppy had three cracked ribs and a broken hind leg.

Fearing for his safety, I offered him to a neighbour who treated him like her own child. She moved away from our neighbourhood shortly. My son was heartbroken and did not ask for any pet again. My family missed JJ a lot.

    1. I should have reported them to SPCA. These cruel and evil young adults.

    1. I want to get a panda plush bear but due to the two panda bears on loan to Singapore, all prices of panda products have gone up. :D

  3. Actually better not have any pets cos you will outlive them and when they die, you will be brokenhearted : )

    1. That's one of the reasons I dissuade my son from keeping a pet. I saw how upset some of my friends were when their pets passed away.

  5. Cute pic! I have no understanding of people who would harm a defenceless creature. :(

    1. I cannot understand these young people too, they can be very cruel to defenceless creatures and even classmates.

  6. So sorry to hear about JJ. I hope those students learnt to be less cruel as well as whatever academic lessons you were teaching them.

On a lighter note: your son's pet Teddy Bear is cute. Don't you have any pet plushies of your own? ;)

    1. Coming from wealthy families, those students have enormous discipline problems. They have no compassion for any living thing.

      I have Elmo. :D

  7. your story and picture reminds of a viral picture on Facebook where a puppy was similarly hung with clothespins to dry by its owner. he was eventually sued for animal cruelty, as he himself was the one to post the pic in his own Fb account =0

    1. I didn't come across this Facebook post.

I hope I won't be sued for hanging my son's 'pet' to dry. :P

    1. Those ill-disciplined foreign students didn't make it in our Singapore school system and had to return to where they come from. Glad they are not in Singapore anymore.

  9. That is horrid! I would have dragged those kids to the upper floor of the house and tossed them out a window.

  11. I can't begin to understand a person who gets a thrill from abusing an animal. I like Jerry's suggestion !

    1. I can't either. The boys come from very well-to-do families. Their parents give them the best of everything. Yet they choose to not only destroy themselves but the defenceless amongst them.

One of the boys' parents are well-respected church elders.

    1. Probably due to too much online gaming which promotes violence.

The teddy is my son's love, washed several times already. Hope it will last a few more washes. :P

  14. Hi ECL, it's so sad how people can be so cruel to animals. I'm sorry your son was so impacted by those kids cruelty. I'm glad Teddy (all nice and clean) was there to fill the void.

    Have a wonderful weekend.
