Chocolate Shopping - PhotoHunt

Mexican Chocolate Chicken

My first time at a Mexican restaurant, curiosity made me order this Mexican Chocolate Chicken. This is not a dessert dish. The famed spicy Mexican sauce, spiked with chillies, spices, and a hint of bitter chocolate was spooned over roast chicken. I couldn't taste the chocolate. The dish was palatable but I won't order it the next time. :P

My favourite chocolate beverage at Max Brenners.

My favourite chocolate donuts - I don't eat them often, I would usually buy half a dozen only after a shopping trip in the city. Fortunately the preferred donut shop is not located within my neighbourhood. Phew! :D

No one could drive nor eat this chocolate car! :)

This first full size chocolate racing car ever created in Asia to celebrate the arrival of Formula 1 in Singapore in year 2008. It used 90 kg of chocolate and 10 litres of food varnish to give the car its polished look. It took 8 chefs 7 days and 7 nights to make it. Wow.

  1. Mexican chocolate sauce - the savory kind, is usually known as mole' and is an incredibly complex preparation. I have made it with good effect, but it sound like you were missing something with the one you had...but glad you got to try something akin to the real thing

  2. You must allow me (for just once) to assert that Mexican is quite a common option for Hawaii people and Americans in general. The beans, rice, chicken, and fresh herbs are the basis of the Taco Bell fast food business. . . while most of us all over the world DO think of chocolate as a sweet, in it's South American homeland, cocoa has a long history as much more than a sweet treat!

  4. I am a chocolate lover too. I never had the chocolate chicken dish. I am not sure if it appeals to me.
I do think that parring chocolate with spice sounds good though.
Oh my those donuts do look good.
That chocolate race car is perfect. I bet someone is waiting for the wheel to break off....and roll in their direction...Blessings dear. Catherine xo

  6. Whitemist,
I looked up the recipe for this Mexican Chocolate sauce, it does sound complex making it. Maybe I have to try it at another Mexican restaurant that hires a Mexican chef. Would love to try your version. Happy weekend!

  7. Cloudia,
Wow, that is new to me.

I always consider chocolate as a dessert but after reading your comment, I want to know more about the chocolate as an ingredient in savoury dishes. And probably collect a few recipes to try. Thanks for the info.

  8. Lina,
After being on display in the open for weeks, I don't think anyone would want to eat it. :)

If you have a chance to eat it, where would you start?

  9. Catherine,
Probably you want to attempt creating a dish with chocolate and spices as two of the ingredients. You are so good with creating recipes.

The kids and chocoholics wish they could sink their teeth into the yummy chocolate race car. :)

  13. when there is too much, every Friday, we have munchies at work, yesterday was extra, lunch as well, and supper. I ate far too much.

I remember in Singapore, there was a chocolate buffet. I was tempted to go.

  19. I have been given chocolate/chilli bars and they are not to my taste so I think you were very adventuresome to order the chocolate chicken.

The car is fabulous. Mind you it would need to be kept in air-conditioned display or it would melt. Love it.
