EastCoastLife Hunting For A Sturdy Home - PH

Million dollar waterfront apartments in Singapore

PhotoHunt theme : Sturdy/ Home

I have been extremely busy these few months because I was house-hunting; packing our possesions and throwing away lots of stuff which we don't need.

I am so tired of moving ...... this is the 15th time in my life. :P I hate the packing and unpacking., I hate to throw away things which are still new and in their packaging. I must stop my impulsive purchases.

Property prices in Singapore have risen so much within a short span of 3 years. Depending on the location, an apartment of 1200 square feet costs more than S$1,500,000!

I am thinking of a home from the ordinary.

A sturdy floating home!

 Ready to sail away!

Isn't it cool to sail from place to place, waking up to a different view every now and then?

❤❤❤❤❤

Good post for the theme. I'd like to have a sailboat I could live on some of the time. I have the opposite problem. We bought my house in 1984 and I haven't moved since then. Unfortunately since I haven't had to pack, throw away, etc in all those years I have way too much junk that I need to get rid of.

  3. Carver,
I must constantly remind myself not to buy any thing that catches my eyes when I am out. I can't seem to control the urge to spend whenever I see something pretty. :P

  4. the idea of a floating home titilates me especially when one can just sail away to a more inviting locale if the situation asks for it.

oh i hate moving and i've only moved 3x in my entire life.

  5. I am an impulse shopper too! We need therapy for our retail therapy :) Great pics and I think living on a boat might be fun! Not enough room for all those extra purchases though LOL! :)

  7. ewok1993,
Living on a boat allows me to move my entire home with me. No packing and unpacking.

I believe I made a record in Singapore for moving the most number of times. :D

  8. Sue,
I have to buy a smaller home so that I would have no extra space for impulsive purchases. The bigger my home, the more things I store in the available space. :P

Shopping is great retail therapy albeit temporary.

  9. If I only wouldn't get seasick...oh, well. I have stopped my impulsive buys, no room for anything else in the house! sometimes I use the moving technique: if I was moving, would I pay to move whatever along? and then it's easier to get rid of that whatever: I can give it to charity, recycle it or toss it, such a nice feeling afterwards!! cheers and happy weekend, ECL!

  11. Mar,
I feel so foolish splurging my money on senseless shopping. I'm glad I am recycling and giving away most of my stuff which are new and most are still in their packaging to others who need them.

I paid less to move this time. :)

  12. Lina,
The boat's 'grounded' in a marina most days. We go on shore to work and then come back to our floating home :D

  13. wow you've moved 15 times already? that's incredible. i hate moving. There is nothing at all that I like about it.

yeah it's cool to sail from one place to another but i get seasick quite easily especially in a small sailboat like this.

  14. I've heard from people that the cost of living in Singapore has increased a lot in recent years. Good luck with your house hunting!

  16. Liferamblings,
Luckily I don't get seasick. I enjoy sleeping on a boat, the gentle waves will rock me to sleep.

  17. YTSL,
Indeed the prices of houses in Singapore has soared skyhigh. I fear for my 20-year old son who would not be able to afford his own home in the future.

  18. ian,
You once move once in yoru lifetime!?

I probably would have to buy a house in another country. :P

  19. I only moved twice in my adult life and that was more than enough ! Wouldn't like to live in such glass boxes, I didn't marry a window cleaner !

  20. I'm 52 years old and I've move I believe 9 times counting the time I left the hospital I was born in in my entire life. Around here (Bonners Ferry area) in American dollar but one could rent a home for that price or even a little cheaper.
But a lot of homes here our empty because of the market and the economy. Coffee is on.

  22. A boat house? Are you sure you want a residence that moves from side-to-side like a California earthquake. :)
Maybe sell all your stuff and you can move into one of those million dollar skyscrapers.

  23. I must say a boat does have some appeal. Then you could just bring everything with you. I've moved house often, probably as many times as you have if I don't count before I was married. I have to say it doesn't get any easier.

  24. 15times? that's a lot, I've only moved 4 times and the last was 33 years ago, when I got married.

  28. An amazing experience to have a boat that we can just sail away whenever you want. Seeing different views and places makes us realize how wonderful this world is.
