Awesome Yellow Rice - PH

PhotoHunt theme : Awesome/Yellow

On a visit to Jakarta in February, we were treated to this turmeric-tinged yellow rice which the Indonesians call 'Nasi Tumpeng'. Shaped into a cone and served with an assortment of dishes, it is usually only served for festive occasion ranging from birthday party to wedding celebration as part of an Indonesian banquet.

I could choose to eat this awesome yellow rice with chicken, fish, meat, and/or vegetable. Because it is cooked with coconut milk, it is deliciously oily and salty. Served with the yellow rice are crackers which the Indonesian love to eat all the time.

Most Indonesians drink sweet ice tea or chilled water after eating yellow rice. I chose this sweet pink beverage which had chestnuts and coconut milk added.

  20. I'm going google Nasi Tumpeng both hubby and I use a lot of turmeric. But also I have to say the drink does look good. I like lot of the nut milk but I don't think chestnut is around here. I do like coconuts very good for you.
