Weekend Breakfast At Riders Cafe - PH

Fluffy homemade pancakes

Photohunt theme : fluffy

For overseas readers who are used to seeing horses in your own country, it is rare to see a real horse in Singapore. And to own one, the owner needs to have quite a lot of money. It costs much more to own a horse in Singapore than a car!

Walk a horse

I love to go to Bukit Timah Saddle Club off Eng Neo Avenue, it provides such therapeutic charm. I feel I am in another country.

I believe many Singaporeans don't know this place. Once in a while, I would go there for weekend brunch. I enjoy watching the owners exercise their horses while I have a hearty breakfast.

Breakfast is served at an idyllic cafe in a colonial clubhouse. It was relaxing to watch the horses trotting past while you bask in fine weather and good food.

I usually order their famous fluffy home-made pancakes with berries compote and maple syrup. Chris love their Norwegian Benedict with generous slices of smoked salmon. Their breakfast is very good!

heavenly breakfast!

You need to make a reservation. It is full-house at all hours and many people who did not have reservations were turned away.

  1. That does look like a nice quiet place to be for a few hours. And that last photo makes me really hungry! Time to get ready for lunch, methinks! ;b

  2. It great to have breakfast in stle and no hurry. My husband and I, e are not at the stage of enjoying it. i don't know if we ever will.

  3. I'm so drooling over that breakfast you had, ECL!

  4. Fluffy desserts, nice and yummy. A good saturday to you..

  5. YTSL,
A very therapeutic place to chill out after 5 weekdays slogging at work. :)
Hope you had a good lunch.

  6. Ann,
Why not? Both of you should find some time to do that.

In New Zealand, it is easier to find horses than in Singapore. You could cook breakfast and have a picnic in the countryside.

  7. We have quiet a lot of horses here so my mouth waters more for the pancakes ! I love them ! The once which are prepared here are more crêpes, flat thin and round.

  8. Hi, I'm glad to see you PhotoHunting again! This is an interesting post, nice photos, and makes me want some pancakes!

Hope you have a great weekend.

  9. Those pancakes look so yummy! Especially because its breakfast time over here :)

  10. looks like a wonderful place to spend the day. the breakfast looks sinfully delicious.

  11. Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog. Those pancakes look delicious!

  12. Beautiful shots. In the U.S., it's very expensive to board a horse. If you live somewhere with land and a barn it's not too bad but many people with horses here have to keep them at a stable and that's very expensive. Certainly would cost a lot more than transportation with a car.

  13. Just recently a pancake house was serving up free pancakes in hope someone would donate to there cause.
Let me tell you they sure looked good.
I didn't no about your other 2 blogs.

  14. Wow! I want that breakfast!! So delicious!!

  15. Hi, there! I've been to Singapore only once, for 4 short days and I have enjoyed it so much that I'm planning on coming back. I'm also hoping our company would send me this year ;)

Anyway, I'm just wondering if you could give suggestions for activities or places to visit at night since that may be the only free time I will have once our company sends me there. Except Night Safari, coz I've already done that.

    Thanks a bunch!

  16. p.s.

That breakfast looks really delicious. Breakfast meals are my favorite! I can eat them any time of the day :) Hope to try that next time.

    Thanks for sharing it!

  17. Hi there,

What time did you visit the cafe? I wanna see the horses too but not sure what time they'd be there!

  18. Hi there!

May I know around what time did you done at the cafe? Thanks!

  19. the place is so lovely. so refreshing and relaxing. so green and calm.looking outside now, where trees are standing without colors, sky is gloomy and weather is cold, make me wanna go there now.:(

  20. yummy foods and a very relaxing place! perfect!

  21. I would probably go there just for the breakfast. :)

  22. Gattina,
I wish I could see horses more often in Singapore.

I love thick, fluffy pancakes too. It's not easy to find a good restaurant that serves yummy pancakes here though.

  23. Hi Annies,
Yes, I hope to participate in PhotoHunt more regularly. :P

  24. Sue,
How lovely! You don't have to think of what to have for breakfast this morning. :)

  25. Life Ramblings,
I wish I could spend a longer time here but the crowds kept coming in after church services. :(

  26. Carver,
With the vast land area in the US, it is easier to keep a horse.

In Singapore, the horses are kept in stables too. They probably only have a few hours a week to graze on the fields.

  27. peppylady,
Offering free pancakes for a good cause, that's a good idea!

  28. foongpc,
Come over to Singapore, I give you a treat! :)

  29. He blogs.She blogs,

Glad that you enjoy your stay in Singapore.

There are quite a number of activities and places you can go to at night in Singapore.

Visit Clark Quay and have a meal or a snack at some of the many eateries there. Then you can have a terrifying ride on the G-MAX reverse bungee or a relaxing cruise on the Singapore River. :P

Enjoy South-east Asia's largest light and water laser show at Marina Bay Sands. Have a leisurely walk along the marina and take lots of photos!

Sentosa Island is another fun place to visit at night.

You can have 24 hour shopping at Mustaffa in Little India. Try the delicious Indian food.

  30. Joan,
I usually go on Sunday morning before 9am. It's less crowded and some owners would be walking their horses. Ask the owner for permission before you touch the horses. Not many owners are willing to stop for visitors to play with their buddy. :P

  31. Joeann,
I wish I could stay a little longer to read my papers or a book, but once you are done with dining, you have to go because of the queues.

  32. AVCr8teur,
I have yet to try their main courses. I shall do it one day and blog about it. :)
