ironing hubby's stripes shirts
All my hubby's shirts are bought by me. I like stripes, it makes him look slimmer. :)
For the past 3 weeks, I have been the maid of the house - cleaning, washing, ironing and cooking non-stop. My maid's contract was due and she went back. Then comes the headaches and the problems. Things are found missing.
And because we have so much things in our house, we don't know what is missing until we start looking for it.Too late. It happened over a period of time, gradually.... little by little... our things disappeared.
Before the maid left, we checked her luggage and discovered many of our stuff (mostly used branded attire) which were taken without permission. That's stealing.
Every time a maid leaves, we face these problems. We take precautions to prevent this but they always have their ways. I have become too dependent on the maid, it's time to consider doing without one. hmmm....
Gosh.... I 'm turning into a nagging, long-winded old lady.

OMG! Don't they have self respect? :(
ReplyDeleteReport them to police loh. These maids are counting on the emotional bond that you've formed with them, so that you'll let it pass
ReplyDeleteI like striped shirts too, ECL, nice shot and take on the theme.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the maid experiences...
Hope you can take some time off to enjoy the weekend!
Stripes
many asian housewives have got the good life (smile) since they can rely on good affordable househelp. out here we have to do everything else - work, clean house, cook, etc, etc - and then BLOG.
ReplyDeletehope you find another help soon.
love your take on the theme. i don't have stripes in my closet, but i love stripes.
It's a good job you checked your maid's luggage, as a lot of clothes would have gone with her. It must be so difficult getting a good maid.
ReplyDeleteNice take on the theme. Sadly if we wanted a live in maid then we would have to move out!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
There's always the pros and cons of having a maid.. Trusting them is a very hard and difficult thing to do.
ReplyDeleteTekkaus,
ReplyDeleteI too cannot understand them.
Every maid I had behaved this way. There are worst stories from my friends, I'm considered lucky.
boh tak chek,
ReplyDeleteYes, I made police reports. It's better to do that so they won't turn round and accuse us. I'm going to feedback to MOM so they can monitor the maid agencies too.
Mar,
ReplyDeleteThanks. I hope I can enjoy my weekends too. Good thing hubby and son are helping out with the household chores.
ewok1993,
ReplyDeleteYes, we Asian housewives are the lucky lot...., for the moment.
Very soon, having a maid is going to be a luxury as their salaries are rising very high but the quality of the maids are not improving.
I truly admire all you ladies who have to clean, cook, wash, take care of the children, work and blog.
Hats off to you!
Capt Picard,
ReplyDeleteIt's a usual practice to check their luggage but they have become very smart. They leave stolen things with our neighbours' maids or their friends long before they were going to return home. They have their tricks.
Looking for a good maid is like looking for a needle in the haystack. :(
jams,
ReplyDeletelol
Is your house that small?
Cashmere.
ReplyDeleteYes, I trust people too easily and always ended up the loser. It's hard to be tough but I have to now. No more Miss Nice. grrrr......
that's too bad to hear about that but I do like the striped shirt!
ReplyDeleteThose are nice shirts. I like stripes on shirts. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteLots of people live happily without maids. And yes, having someone help with the housework sounds wonderful but, as you wrote, there are these downsides to having hired help around your home. I guess many people find all that temptation too hard to resist. :S
ReplyDeleteYSTL,
ReplyDeleteYes, I should stop relying on hired help and live happily without these problems and headaches. :)
Lots of stripes! Oh, I've become too dependent with the maid too that it becomes a disaster whenever she takes a vacation. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend ECL!
My STRIPES is here.
I've never had a maid.. I guess I don't trust anyone. (Something my father-in-law taught me.) If anythings gets missing here... it's usually me that loses it. :)
ReplyDeleteLiz,
ReplyDeletehaha.... we should strive to be less dependent on our maids.
ancient one,
ReplyDeleteWise decision of your.
And wise advice from your father-in-law. :)
such news are nothing new anymore. i heard a lot of similar stories of maids everywhere.
ReplyDeletemy hubby is fond of stripes shirts too. they never go out of style.
Oh dear. That's not nice. But how can you manage without a maid you busy lady?
ReplyDeletei like stripes on shirts, too, especially the slimming part.:p
ReplyDeletewe used to have a maid when we were kids. but as an adult, i never had one. it's too bad that some people cannot be trusted.
Life Ramblings,
ReplyDeleteThe same old stories and yet we employers are still as gullible. :(
That's what I like about stripes, always in-style. :)
jmb,
ReplyDeleteFor these weeks, I have to cut down on outings rejecting many invitations, prioritize my work and do only the necessary.
Luckily I have hubby and my son to help out. :)
Hi Luna Miranda!
ReplyDeleteLong time no see. Good to see you again!
It's sad that a few bad experiences can make a person become distrustful of everyone. But we have to be cautious. Sad world we are living in.
Good maids are few. It is best not to rely too much on the maids.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
Yes you're right, it's time to consider living without maids. A little hard but with the help of everyone in the family, everything will just be fine.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
I got no maid ECL! :( Wan to send ur maid here to clean my place or not? :)
ReplyDeleteSo complicating lah. I lived in Singapore for six years and no maid.
ReplyDeleteSo you like striped shirts, it's easier to iron, you just have to follow the direction ! I have a cleaning woman since at least 7 years and before her I had another one for 15 years. She went back to Portugal. The one I have now is adorable, she took over the whole household, we have nothing to say she treats us like her children. Each time she comes back from Poland she brings me a little cat. Just adorable. Sad that you make such a bad experience.
ReplyDeleteWe lost many valuable things over the years but to my brother stealing when he was young and to some friends of his.
ReplyDeleteAs you say, you don't often notice something is missing until you go looking for it. Some of the things that went missing were family heirlooms which are irreplaceable... A Faberge pendant, and a VERY valuable ruby and diamond ring that was one of the last good pieces of jewellery from my step-father's formerly very wealthy family, little pins and rings from my mother's family that I remember from my childhood... Luckily, I managed to save a few things because they were given to me when I was young and I appreciated them enough to keep them safe.
As for the shirts, I am wearing a stripy shirt just like that, right now!
Give me a Five! I have exactly the same encounters. For the last few months, I prefer to go without a domestic helper to avoid de javu.
ReplyDeleteI've heard so many stories about the maids here,I thank God that I don't have the opportunity to have one as I'm the MAID at home!! lol
ReplyDeleteyeah..while some have good clean maids.. there are many who likes to take thing which do not belong to them.. either this or that.. without maid, more work.. with maid, more stress.. hahaha..
ReplyDeleteIt is terrible to have precious items taken by someone you trust.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if perhaps the solution might be to give a little present to the maid every week. Just something small - a token of appreciation. By the time the maid does have to leave she will have much to pack and perhaps the urge to take things will not be there. It is just a thought as it is the sort of thing that works well with a child - a distraction always prevents bad behavour.
stanley,
ReplyDeleteThere are few good people on this earth. Can trust no one. :P
Pinoy Mom,
ReplyDeleteIt's tough not having help as I have bedridden elderly in-laws to take care of. :(
Mariuca,
ReplyDeleteThe maid has returned. She could clean you out. haha....
Colin Campbell,
ReplyDeleteKudos to you for not having a maid while you are in Singapore.
I have very different situations from yours lah. :(
Gattina,
ReplyDeleteLucky woman, you!
I don't have your luck when it comes to maids. They are problematic.
Anneke (Mudhooks),
ReplyDeleteI lost some jewellery once and money many times. I was so furious as one piece of the jewellery was very precious to me.
After that incident, I was careful not to leave jewellery at home.
It's difficult to prevent such petty theft because they already plan to do it and they bid their time.
Denesa,
ReplyDeleteAny one who has a maid before knows what problems the maids pose. :(
Jama,
ReplyDeleteIt's better to go without a maid if you can. Waste money, waste time, vomit blood. :(
reanclaire,
ReplyDeleteYes, you are right. We don't need the stress. haha...
Kloggers/Polly,
ReplyDeleteI do buy my maids stuff when I travel overseas and very often, buy them food and snacks whenever I went out on errands.
Probably, the temptation to own some of the pretty and expensive stuff I have is too much. I'm proud that I have good taste. haha....
I hate ironing and doing house chores!! Can borrow your maid? Or do you want to iron my shirts for me? LOL!!
ReplyDeleteMaids? They cannot be trusted!!
