I was busy with Career 2008 these few days. The annual Career exhibition is a very important marketing platform for the education and recruitment sector in Singapore. It provides infomation on a wide variety of education choices and employment opportunities for students of all levels, job seekers and working individuals.
A career in Casino Management
This year alone, our Singapore Flyer starts its operation and the world’s first night race with the Formula 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix will be held in September. The first Integrated Resort – The Marina Bay Sands™ – is expected to be ready in year 2009 and in 2010, the next IR – Resorts World at Sentosa - will open. The inaugural Youth Olympic Games will be hosted here in 2010 too.
Singapore’s dynamic and growing tourism industry needs the right people with the right skills to fill these vacancies.

Culinary courses
For the next 3 years, the Singapore Government has committed S$360 million to train 74,000 tourism industry workers. There are many career opportunities in the Tourism & Travel sector, Hotels & Accommodation sector, MICE sector and Attractions sector.
I hope Singaporeans (students, mid-career switchers and job seekers, including people considering returning to work) would get the appropriate training now to jumpstart your career in tourism.
The Marina Bay Sands' total investment will exceed S$5 billion. It would be one of the most expensive casinos in the world. Designed by Moshe Safdie, it consists of 3 large shells that contain conference halls and other business venues. The top floors of its 3 large hotel towers will be linked by a sweeping sky garden. Jutting out onto the bay will be a centerpiece museum.

ReplyDeleteI would love to join the hotel industry again.. but they donch pay me enough.. for the long hours one has to put in.. and it wouldn't be worth leaving chloe in someone else's care. The brat is not by any means an angel.. but compared to those parents .. who donch really look after them.. like the ones we see here.. i cannot help but thank God.. i am in the position to do what i am doing for my brat now.

Manpower is certainly critical for the tourism industries, and it looks like things are looking up for job seekers. One of the greatest challenges though is getting more Singpaoreans to work in the service sector. Very tough as many do not want to work shifts, weekends or to serve customers.
ReplyDeleteI must say I envy your goverment, I mean my country has claim the year 2008 is Visit INdonesua Year, still...I don't think they came up with some improvement
ReplyDeleteInteresting shots. Happy WS!
ReplyDeleteAh I must pass it onto my friend who is now bonded with one of the Singapore hotel and service apartment chain and is now based in Vietnam. I am sure she would love to return to Singapore soon and join the industry.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, hopeless leh ... I know nuts about tourism ... sigh. I really should start there since I love staying at hotels, dine at restaurants, enjoy life ...
