Oh Chin Huat Hydroponics Farm

I accompanied Jaymes' class to a hydroponics farm today. We started off at 8.30am in an air-con coach.

The farm was located in Yishun, near Khatib Camp.

There were 3 classes, so a guide was assigned to each of the class. Our guide was Mr Oh himself.

First stop, the Harvesting Centre where fully-grown vegeiables are packed before delivering them to the supermarkets.

Then to the Nutrients Mixing Centre, where the kids were tested on their Physics & Chemistry with questions from Mr Oh. Thank goodness they passed. ha ha ha......

Next we went to the Nursery Greenhouse where young seedling were placed into water medium. We took a peek into the Germination Room because it is hot & stuffy inside.

Mr Oh explained the difference between Aeroponics & Hydroponics.

The mini Herb & Spices Garden.

The Roselle Plant also known as Ribena.

Pepper plant.

Dill.

A talk on the usage of herbs, then Quiz time. Many students rushed to answer questions so as to get Ms Vivian Foong packets of kangkong seeds, just because she loves to eat kangkong. Awww, so sweet of them!

Natural remedies : for stress & a quick pick-me-up - Lemon Balm. How do you chase away cockroaches & ants? Use clove oil. A simple test to see if you are healthy - chew Italian parsley.
Roselle brew into a drink lowers your chloresterol level & high blood pressure.

Tasting time! Sweet corn.

Finally, the moment that all were waiting for - Shopping! Oops, sorry, I was so busy shopping I forgot to take pictures. he he he......

Oh's Farm was so generous to give each student a goodie bag. There was a Basil plant, a packet each of Caixin (Mustard Leaves) & Xiaobaicai. The students have gained more knowledge on this educational trip.
