At 8.30 pm Singapore time on 28th March, many parts of Singapore were plunged into darkness as lights went off and remained switched off until 9.30 pm. Earth Hour is a global initiative by the World Wide Fund for Nature to raise awareness of climate change.
The Merlion, Singapore Flyer, Fullerton Hotel and the Esplanade participated and stood in darkness for one hour in support of the fight against climate change.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful shots. It must have been fun to celebrate it with a crowd. It's great to see how other countries took part in this momentous event. I'm happy that my family had an active part in it.

Hey Eastcoastlife, were you at Esplanade yesterday? I suppose we were so near yet so far yesterday.
I still can't fully appreciate the significance of link chains, and shall give it a piss.
Err.I was at Boat Quay with a good friend of mine yesterday, and had a good time catching up with my friend there while it was Earth Hour.
A good initiative (thumbs up!) to save energy and money! ;)
I hope this Earth Hour will create an awareness on global warming and more people will commit to switch off lights and electrical gadgets when not in use.

it was the first time i saw stars in the city of Makati last night :) It is good to see that we might just get more than one billion votes for this and by the way it looks I think we just did hehehe. Lots of hugs ECL

For the first time, i enjoyed the beautiful night sky, gazing at the twinkling stars with my kids.
It must have been fun with the crowd. I was home alone yesterday but I did turn off the lights. :)
It was the same here too in Brussels, the lights were switched off for one our between 8.30 et 9.30 !
Today posted pictures of 10 of the chinese terra cotta soldiers which I have seen in an exposition here in Belgium. They were so impressive ! I wished I could see the whole army.
I joined it too! My university has been campaigning about it for weeks. I spent the night walking around the campus :) It sure is dark without light :D

hello ECL! what a great gathering! It's lovely to see all the peoples gathering together for the same meaningful purpose. Malaysia just had our first EH 2009. It was spectacular. I meant KL tower and other big companies turning off their lights all at the same time! It's not easy to catch such a sight! :)

i slept through Earth Hour but i left instructions to my housemates to turn off the lights at 8:30 to 9:30 pm last Saturday. a great time to come together and support a good cause.
