eastcoastlife shot Member of Parliament kissing in public! - WS #31

Fire broke out at Dakota Crescent Block 10

A fire broke out at Dakota Crescent, Block 10 this morning. Fire fighters arrived at the scene to rescue two residents trapped in the apartment.

It was an exercise on Emergency Evacuation by Singapore Civil Defence Force. Residents learnt how to perform CPR, give first aid and fight fires.

static displays - handling hazmat (hazardous material)

Member of Parliament Lim Biow Chuan then demonstrated the kiss of life to residents. He received the correct technique to do it when he almost strangled the poor victim when he placed his left hand on its neck. I'm sure his wife would appreciate it.... Tilt the chin with one hand! hahaha....

Member of Parliament Lim Biow Chuan giving the kiss of life... hehe...

Singaporeans should have a sense of community and ownership over issues concerning safety and security. Working with grassroots organisations, the SCDF ensures that residents become actively involved in matters of fire safety and civil defence.

Have a fire, call eastcoastlife!! haha....

  5. That's a very cute title. You are tricky! ;o)

I need to be CPR certified for work, and I am. It's a good thing to know and easy.

Years ago my neighbor who knew CPR saved someones life. He was in the parking lot, and someone collapsed right in front to him. My neighbor administered CPR, and saved his life. He is a hero!

  6. "Singaporeans should have a sense of community and ownership over issues concerning safety and security"

This is equally true all over the world but sadly not always practiced. Nice article and photos. I love the title.

I'm sure you are good in CPR! I should learn from you.

I have to learn it correctly, I hope to save someone's life one day. I was too playful when I first learnt it. I realised the importance. My hubby and son learnt CPR too, so they can save lives. :)

  13. So cool. The residents are fortunate to have passionate grassroot leaders and members who organise such events to raise their awareness on fire-safety and emergncy evacuation.

Looks like you have a meaningful Sunday, almost always.

  14. Oopps...I don't know how to give the kiss of life.

  19. Every year we have this fire drill at the office. I have not mastered CPR nor I am able to 'operate' a fire extinguisher. I just watch the drill with my colleagues while having coffee in a cafe near our building. Bad.

  23. oceanskies,
There are ongoing community programmes and activities for Singaporeans, it's just that not many people bother to attend.

Singaporeans are fortunate that they have the many volunteers in grassroots to organise activities and forms a bridge between them and the Government.

I had an opportunity to give feedback to SCDF top officers at the event. It is reassuring to hear their commitment to the safety and well-being of the people.

  24. ck,
hahaha.... not that easy to hear scandals about our PAP. I would really have to dig hard and risk getting eliminated. :)

The fire extinguisher is heavy! Not that easy to handle .... and it chipped my nails. ohhhh....

  27. the dong,
People should be prepared for emergencies. Governments should take the lead to minimise chaos and unnecessary deaths during an emergency.

You can start picking up first aid and CPR. :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. lynn!!
*gasp* You should take the fire drill seriously!!

haha... I wasn't serious when there were fire drills in my school and workplace too. Now I make sure I know where are the fire exits whenever I go to a new building. Just in case.

  29. sweet jasmine,
