Self-Quarantine, Limit the Spread of H1N1! - WS

mischievous students making fun of those on home quarantine

After a month of holidays, schools in Singapore are set to re-open tomorrow. But some of my foreign students who are returning from other areas with evidence of community transmission of Influenza A (H1N1) were advised to stay home by their schools.

I have placed those students on self-quarantine, hoping to limit the spread of Influenza A (H1N1) in the community.

They will stay at home throughout the 7 days quarantine period. I will monitor their temperature twice daily and check for flu-like symptoms. They must practice good personal hygiene and minimise contact with other house mates. They will have online lessons until they return to school on 6 July.

I don't know whether they are carriers of the virus. We just have to be socially responsible. I have prepared masks and hand sanitizers for every one in the house.

On 28th June 2009, Singapore has confirmed 145 new cases of H1N1, bringing the tally to 599.

I hope the numbers don't climb any higher. I'm having a hard time keeping the kids entertained at home. :D

  9. Here in Manila, a lot of schools have confirmed cases of the A(H1N1) virus. Some have suspended classes until July. Some are braving the spreading of the virus, suspending only the classes that has the confirmed case.

  12. Singapore is so highly-densed...no wonder the transmission rate is high.

  19. So, behind the scenes and big news headlines, this flu is raging on.
wow. I had almost forgotten about it, the news here has stopped covering it so much.
We should all stay mindful of this, even when the news is not covering it.

  28. H1N1 cases are increasing in Malaysia too. Looks like the number of cases won't be reducing anytime soon : (

    ReplyDelete
  29. It's quite difficult to contain the virus as those who were infected but had not shown any symptoms yet were already spreading the virus.

    ReplyDelete
  30. But luckily this H1N1 is not that deadly, or else we'll all be in a state of panic!

    ReplyDelete
  31. But have to salute you for monitoring the students during their self quarantine. It's good to be socially responsible. We should all be socially responsible : )

  32. With careful steps taken to prevent the spread of this virus everything will be alright after some time. Hope u take good care of yourself too.

  33. That's a very good measure. At least the kids won't affect others and they don't miss out with school too having online lessons. You have such dedication ECL! I salute you!
