When we think of gold, it's mostly shining yellow gold. Purple gold looks like coloured metal and is costlier, but it has been gaining popularity since it was introduced to the world in 2000. This metal's creator is a Singaporean, Dr Loh Peng Chum.
Dr Loh has also come up with ways to forge other metals into various designs, such as layers and checks.
Purple gold is a unique gold alloy composed of 80% pure gold and 20% of other metal components. It has been around for decades, but it was both too porous and brittle to mould into jewellery. Purple is a colour for royalty. ^-^My husband presented me with a purple gold necklace on our 15th wedding anniversary. This afternoon when I unlocked my drawer to take a picture of it for PhotoHunt, it was gone.... together with a few pretty pieces of my jewellery.
I turned the whole house upside-down, but it was nowhere to be found. I'm afraid it's been stolen. I suspect it was my last maid. I took the photos of purple gold jewellery from the store's brochure because the sales people don't allow me to snap pictures in the shop. They are lovely pieces, the photos don't do justice to them.
I'm heart-broken........... I didn't even take a photo wearing that lovely necklace. *sob... sob....*

ReplyDeleteI doubt so, Yen. I have been looking for hours.... hence this late post.
ReplyDelete*cries*
ecl,
ReplyDeleteHow dare anyone steal ecl's jewelry! Hopefully it was not stolen. *Pray hard*
Alamak! another case of the "3 hands maid" ....
ReplyDeleteHigh doubt in getting it back if she's gone already. I can imagine your heartache :(
Ask Mr.Hubby to replace!! *evil.mode*
Still, enjoy the Easter weekend bah :-)
Sorry to hear about the lost. Hopefully the necklace was just misplaced....even though I know you have turned the whole house upside down...
ReplyDeleteIf it has been lost, may it be a blessing in disguise.
Maybe it might appear someday when you least expect it? Sometimes these things happen... would love to see a photo though.
ReplyDeleteoh gosh!!! maid stole it!!!
ReplyDeletefeel sad, now unable to report her?
Sorry to hear about the loss of your jewellery!
ReplyDeleteAnd purple gold sounds very exotic, in fact I've never heard of it until today and am going to do some reading about it now.
Oh dear... that maid so 'tai tam'?? Grrrr!
ReplyDelete*rolls up sleeves*
*before that, gives ECL a big hug first*
she didn't even had to bake a cake to hide it inside huh? ya, heard all those horror stories.
ReplyDeletesorry about your loss. :(
I haven't ever heard of purple gold. I am so sorry about your jewelry. That is upsetting. I hope you have a good weekend in spite of that.
ReplyDeleteJust want to say Happy Easter to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteGosh... this is terrible. I thought I could have a look at how beautifully it will look on you. I guessed I have to wait for your visit later.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I hate about maid too. My Mum lost hundreds in cash and there were only both my parents and the maid in the house. So you can guessed who did that but surprisingly no cash was found on her. It's still a mystery for us.
Hop in for some fun this weekend in http://crizcats.blogspot.com/2008/03/photo-hunters-metal.html and/or have a look what the metal teeth cat did in http://crizlai.blogspot.com/2008/03/photo-hunters-metal.html . Have a nice weekend!

ReplyDeletesorry about the lost jewelry. I hope you find it -or if it's stolen, you'll recover it. If not, then it's time to subtly tell dear husband for another. Heheh. Joke!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I learned something from you again.
I am so sorry you lost your jewels. So did I. I know exactly how you feel. Maybe we should meet and drown our sorrows together!!
ReplyDeleteYikes! Sorry to hear about your loss. Maybe you might still be able to find it.
ReplyDeletePurple is one of my favorite colors and I find purple gold very interesting. I'm very sorry that you lost such a special jewelry.

I have never heard of purple gold, it must be pretty and rare. Purple is my husband's favorite color. I would buy some if I have a chance.
ReplyDeleteSorry that you have probably lost yours which is of sentimental value. It's not easy to deal with a stay-in maid. You don't know what she is up to. You can't search her as she is already gone.
Jewelries.. expensive...
