Kampong Glam

The compound of Istana Kampong Glam (the Sultan's Palace).

The name Kampong Glam comes from the Glam tree which grew in the area. Medicinal oil was extracted from the tree & its bark used by the Buginese & Malays to caulk their ships.

Originally a fishing village at the mouth of Rochor River, it was the historical seat of Malay royalty in Singapore.

Outside the Sultan Mosque.

Jaymes was throwing up again. I had to cut short the excursion to go back to attend to him. Tun told me he threw out his breakfast & lunch. I have to get him to a doctor.
