Former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station - WW

tr1.jpg

To allow more Singaporeans to enjoy the historical former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station (TPRS 丹戎巴葛火车总站), the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) opened the State property to the public on 20 February 2015, the second day of the Lunar New Year.

The first time I visited this railway station was in 1993.... wow, that was more than 20 years ago. Together with two Malaysian students, my toddler son and I took a train to KL during the June school holidays.

The railway station was closed in 2011 after 79 years in operation. It was built between 1929 and 1931. It was gazetted as a national monument in 2013.

There were around one hundred visitors when we arrived. They were taking pictures of what is left of the railway track We snapped some pictures of the beautiful architect and had fun posing for pictures on the railway tracks. :D

After Chinese New Year, it will be accessible on public holidays.

被列为国家古迹的前丹戎巴葛火车站, 大年初二举办开放日时, 我们全家特地前去参观,回味火车站的历史和文化。从这个农历新年起,每逢公共假日,前丹戎巴葛火车站将开放给公众参观。
