Simply Zesty @ Tiong Bahru Bakery - PhotoHunt

PhotoHunt theme : Macro/Zesty

P1280178

I was rushing to meet a friend in Raffles City for lunch when I saw this queue. Curious, I went forward to find out what they were queuing for.

A variety of speciality burger buns, check out the unique Squid Ink Burger Buns

Whoa! A selection of mouth-watering desserts and pastries by French baker, TV personality and cookbook author Gontran Cherrier awaits. Also available are freshly baked artisan bread in slices and loaves for dining in or take away.

I met my friend for lunch and later returned for desserts and coffee. :)

There was a review at the entrance of the outlet which highly recommends their croissants. The croissant is buttery and airy. Tastes good although I would have preferred it warm. A staff recommended their sweet and savoury Kouign Amann which is surprisingly excellent. This crusty caramel pastry is so yummy, I ordered half a dozen to go. :D

For beverages, we ordered Latte which is freshly made and tastes good.

A macro shot of Tiong Bahru Bakery's zesty lemon tart (S$6)

I noticed many diners ordering the eatery's speciality burgers. They are not cheap, each burger costs at least S$9+. Prices are a little high here but overall, the food tastes good. Will come back to try more of their  desserts.

The outlet is located at the basement with an "open air" concept, self service style. A good place to chill out!

  8. Hi ECL, great photos and wonderful choices for this week's dual themes. Your desserts look so good and it is a good way to cap off a nice lunch. I can see why there was a long queue. I'd be standing there too. :)

The desserts were very appealing but it was because of the long queue that made me try them. :P Glad I did.

Fortunately it is located quite a distance from my house, or else I would be patronising it regularly.

  16. When I got home this evening from doing some running around I came home and made an eggnog latte. We don't have a bakery around here there all in our food stores.
I bet the best thing was having a visit with your friend.
    Coffee is on.

  17. The burgers look really enticing! Have to admit though that lemons are not my thing -- I prefer lime and yuzu -- so I'd pass on the lemon tart. :b

I was fascinated by the burgers initially but chose the lemon tart as I just had lunch. I like sour fruits, I would like lime or yuzu too.

You have a Flickr account too? Great!
There are many diners who ordered the inky black burgers. It's just the squid ink that gives the burger the black colour, it is safe for consumption lah. :)
