Love is In the Air! - WS

Balloons carrying the love declarations of couples released into the air

I joined hundreds of couples renewing their marriage vows yesterday evening at the Marina Barrage. There was a mass releasing of love balloons as we rededicate our love for each other. This event created yet another romantic shared memory in our married life. I hope the other couples have the same feeling.

Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and wife rededicating their love for each other

Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports as well as Second Minister for Trade and Industry, was on stage with his wife and youngest son to renew their marriage vow too.

Ms Anita Fam (left) and hubby.

Earlier in the day, it was raining cats and dogs. Luckily it stopped, just in time, for this event. :) The comfy evening breeze, cool weather and romantic purple and pink colours everywhere put visitors in a mood for love. Head of Marriage Central Advisory Board, Ms Anita Fam and her other half looked ecstatic.

Couples left their love declarations on this huge message board.

Couples, young and old, reaffirmed their love and commitment to their other half. There were many elderly couples with their extended families. It was heartening to see such a huge turnout at this record-breaking mass commitment of love.

Balloons carrying Love messages dotted the skyline

I couldn't stay long as I had to rush to my nephew's wedding at the Esplanade.

Happy SUnday, ECL! :)

I guess that is the most romantic thing to do after years of being together. when one mention, till death do us part, they truly mean it. ...

Wah so many couples, so romantic but how come they all wear very casual one? Here, renewing a vow is a very formal ceremony leh.

Must be windy that day, huh? Got one of those love-message-bearing purple balloon at my door step here in Malaysia!

:)

Jean Chia,
Yes, lots of lovey dovey scenes everywhere at Marina Barrage yesterday.

You will go 'awwww.....' when you see elderly couples holding hands and kissing each other. :D

Happy Sunday Jean!

Life Ramblings,
We find many loving couples who have been married for more than 2 decades at this event. It was heart-warming to hear them share their love stories.

I hope to share them here one day. They really mean 'till death do us part'.....

EastCoastLife said...

Doreen,
There were people who were dressed up for the occasion too. Since it is an outdoor event, I think many participants prefer to dress in smart casual and in comfortable attire.

EastCoastLife said...

Buzzing J,
hahahahaha.....

Can you please check if it's from my hubby?

It was windy that day and I guess it's not unusual if balloons could fly as far as JB! hahaha...

Buzzing J,

Wow! You should send the balloon back to marriage Central or post a picture of it.

Proves one thing: Love goes a long way!

I hate to be a wet blanket here. But that is 1000 balloons polluting the environment.

That's a wonderful event. A strong and lasting relationship is worth celebrating.

It looked like a fun and positive event! And what's more the 21st was the start of Spring the season of love!
Hope you and the family had a nice time at your nephew's 'Spring' wedding and that you recovered well after the hectic events.

Sounds like a meaningful affair. It is a helpful reminder that everyday is a good day to nurture one's love for his/her loved ones. :)

Lina,
It was hard finding a parking lot for our car even though there were two big carparks. So the turn out was good. :)

I met lots of married couples with their kids at the event.

My nephew's wedding was a grand one. His colleagues made him so drunk, I doubt he could perform his duty last night. haha....

EastCoastLife said...

Hello Juliana,
What's Jason up to this time? ;)

EastCoastLife said...

DK,
Ha! Since when have you ever cared about pollution?
*rolled eyes*

Heart of Rachel,
With the erosion of moral values and the rising divorce rates, it is timely to celebrate strong and lasting relationships.

You and your hubby are good models. :)

Jean,
Oh, what a co-incidence! It was the perfect start to a season of love!

My nephew's wedding was beautiful! So romantic and it was great meeting all the relatives from both families. Our family clan has expanded. :)

oceanskies,
Every day is a good day for love. We should not wait for a special occasion to celebrate.

You have shown so much love to the people around you. God should send you a good man. :)

My hubby and I work to keep the marriage going and growing. My parents and in-laws are good models, so we want to pass on this virtues and values to future generations. :)

No problem with the link, buddy.

sgshortstories,
What!? We did... again? lol

I was there for only half an hour and I was in time for the renewing of vows! I had to rush off for my nephew's wedding. His starting point to another important phase of life. :)

What a lovely and romantic reaffirmation, some event to cherish. I agree with the "hard to find" parking. Yeah, no pictures of you and hubby.

this is such a sweet event! adding back the sparks makes it so super meaningful. would love to see a picture of the both of you as well. :)

That's a wonderful idea ! it should exist here too ! But I had to laugh about the purple color, deep purple is used for funerals here (besides black) So it's right, romantic pink for some days and sad purple for others, that's marriage !
