St Patrick's Day Parade in Singapore - Weekend Snapshot 15

Star Wars characters created quite a buzz

My first St Patrick's Day celebration at historic Boat Quay where the parade took place. A fun-filled event where everyone wear something green!

Singapore's Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade is organised by the Irish Business Association and supported by the Embassy of Ireland along with key members of the Irish community in Singapore. The parade was a special highlight of the day, a beloved tradition upheld and celebrated by Irish people worldwide, in honour of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.

This is the 3rd year the event is held in Singapore. The Singapore Police Force marching bands and many local cultural groups participated. There were much Irish music and dancing and drinking.

Now I have my mouth open because I am really surprised ! I would never had thought that you celebrate St. Patrick's ! In Europe it's only celebrated in Ireland maybe it was introduced to your country when it belonged to the British Communwealth.BTW do you use Google Reader, if not I wrote about it today because it's a real useful tool.

I guess Star Wars characters will always create a stir. Is there a Yoda around? Lol.

gattina,
Singaporeans don't celebrate St Patrick's Day! This parade was organised by Irish expats in Singapore and the Embassy of Ireland.

I went to watch the parade as I was invited. It was fun.

lynn,
No, there was no Yoda. :(

Nice photos and report. -__^

Ya it was a nice day for the parade and thankfully the sky managed to clear up before the parade.

Mind if I kidnap the first photo (Star Wars Fans) to pass to friends who're in the photo?

Thanks ^__^

What a wonderful St. Patrick's Day Parade report ECL - a perfect match: you see I've collected St Paddy's posts from all over the world in my post from the Parade in Oslo, Norway and yours are listed of course!
