Hong Kong Tea House 香港茶餐厅

Chris & I had brunch at Hong Kong Tea House near our residence. We ordered meat dumplings, fried carrot cake, toast with milk & peanut butter, salad fruit rolls and a baked rice with pork chop. You can choose from 5 types of sauces to go with the baked rice - curry, Portuguese, tomato, black pepper & mushroom cream. I chose the Portuguese sauce. Except for the toast, we like the food.

Its chilli paste is fiery. The chilli oil is imported from Hong Kong. Actually a lot of the ingredients are imported from Hong Kong.

I ordered a cup of Hong Kong milk tea. It was strong & I like it very much. It tasted different from our local teh-si.

We met the lady boss, Victoria Li who migrated here from Hong Kong. We had a nice, long chat with her. She's a bold & shrew entrepreneur. She brought in 17 Hong Kong chefs. The monthly rental of the premise & staff salary is a killer.

Occupying the former Joo Chiat Police Station, her restaurant is the largest Hong Kong tea/coffee house in Singapore. And it's opened 24 hours. There are more than 500 items on her menu.

After our meal, we went to visit our parents.

The boys had gone to Vivocity to watch a movie. It rained for most of the day. Chris & I went to fetch the boys in the evening. There were many cars going into Vivocity, so it took us quite a while to get to the boys.

We went to Hong Kong Tea House again for dinner. The waitress & Victoria were glad to see us.

We let the boys order the dishes this time. It took them quite a while to decide what to eat. There were too many choices. Finally they ordered Kong Pao Chicken, Fish Fillet with mushroom cream sauce, Sweet & sour pork, meat dumplings, Seafood Tofu. Yangzhou fried rice, E-fu Noodles & Braised Eggplants. Again the dishes were delicious.

The restaurant is serving 3 special Christmas dishes for these 3 days. They are the Pork Chops, Seafood spaghetti and Steak. It costs S$9.80 each.

The restaurant also serves Hong Kong set breakfast (S$2.80), Set Lunch (S$4.80) & Set Dinner (S$8.80) daily. There is no service charge.

I saw many Hong Kongers eating here, maybe because the food is more authentic Hong Kong fare. Looks like I am going to be a regular here.

I also live in the east and visit eateries around the East Coast area quite often. I just visited this place on 23 Dec for dinner with my family. Hey, we could have bumped into each other without even knowing it.
